USAA Deposit At Home

I applied for a credit card with USAA so I could take advantage of the Deposit at Home. My daughter and I decided to set up her teen checking with them. I have a savings account with them and usually push money from my Chase checking into either her account or my savings. The pending hold is about a week long and her being 16, she has no patience. Smiley Tongue (Just like her mom)

I am having problems figuring out how to do this, even though I searched the website. Something is missing when I click on our accounts. No option for deposit at home.

Anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

Give them a call as this may be something they must enable on their end. The act of getting the credit product may not automatically enable this feature. I applied for credit on the phone for this express purpose so once approved it worked for me as the CSR knew I wanted it.

I applied on the phone too and stressed the only reason I wanted it, was for being able to use deposit at home. She said the options should be there once I click on my accounts, but it clearly is not.

I will call back to see what I am missing.

Thanks!

Re: USAA Deposit At Home

This happened to me too... I got the mastercard, nothing showed up. I emailed them, they said it was now activated, wait 24 hours and it would work... still nothing. Next email I explained what had happened and the links showed up as soon as they got to my email.

Try the search box at the top for "deposit@home"
This will bring up the main d@h page, which might tell you you aren't eligible. If this is the case, then someone just forgot to activate the service on your account- a call or email should fix this.

Thanks! I finally found that page and I knew I wasn't crazy since I stumbled upon it a few months back. It said I wasn't eligible, so I sent an email to see if/when I can use it .Hopefully soon.

I sent my child to Atlanta with a credit card and she tried to use it. It declined her and she called upset thinking I snatched it away. It was a card that the mate had been lost and I reported it. A new number was sent and I should have destroyed the card. Now I feel stupid sending her with it.  Most of the trip was prepaid and she only needed a bit of spending money. She did bring her USAA bank card and I am hoping I can get a deposit in fast enough so she isn't too broke.  I can always wire her money, but hoping to save on the fees if I can. It would probably buy an extra hotdog or two.

Re: USAA Deposit At Home

To update and show that USAA goes above and beyond. My email to them was promptly answered this morning, first thing. It will be 3-5 days before the link is activated on my account to use the deposit at home feature.

I had explained the mistake I made in sending my daughter out of town with a cancelled card and they had a free and instant solution to the problem. I was able to take a cash advance from my chase debit card and deposit directly into her account. NO FEES!! So far no fees from Chase's end either. I had no idea I could do this and they say it can be done for free up to 8 times a month.

Now, if I can just feel comfortable enough to drop Chase altogether. I am  much like alot of people in the comfort of being able to go and talk to a person at the local branch should anything go wrong. I need to get over it.

Anyway, this institution is simply great!!!!

Re: USAA Deposit At Home

Good solution. You won't see any charges from chase for doing the cash advance, as long as it's your debit card and not credit card.

If I were you, keep chase (or some other retail bank) to deposit cash in. That's the downside of USAA. I have a BOA and Chase account to throw cash in and then use the debit card cash advance feature to move it out to USAA the same day. Watch out though- the 8 times per month limit includes both debit/credit advances from other banks as well as in-house USAA transfers for the fee-free overdraft protection from one of their CCs.

Re: USAA Deposit At Home

I shove money from point A to point B to point Q to point Z throughout the month with USAA. Auto transfers from checking into the Roth, the MMF, savings, DD#2's checking; back and from the HELOC, in and out; you name it.

I know that everyone has their own comfort levels, but my paychecks have been automatically deposited into USAA for a decade without a single problem. And the Deposit-at-Home option is incredible. Lying in bed at 2 a.m., and you realize that you didn't deposit that birthday check? Go fire up the fax/scanner/copier, plug in the laptop, and the deposit is done.

I'd gone for decades with perfect checking with USAA (only perfect with them, I might add), until this year. In January a check for a new-to-me car was trying to be returned on line, due to a double withdrawal for my Roth, and they bailed me out. No fee, no repercussion, and they offered to send a letter to the car dealer. Then two weeks ago, a MMF draft went out twice, and my checking was overdrawn. The savings account (primary account) wasn't enough, and it went to the MC (secondary account.) The draft was covered, NO fee for using either overdraft, and they cheerfully spent 20 minutes on the phone, trying to figure how to re-set the automatic draft on the MMF so that it would get vacuumed out at the proper time.

These people are what old-time banking was all about. Don't ever, ever try to fool them; treat them right all the time; and they'll return the favor.

Re: USAA Deposit At Home

Well, Chase is getting fee happy with all of the pushing here and there I've been doing. I know I was getting a couple in with no charge. Those fee's add up fast.

This is my daughter's first checking and she doesn't understand them having to hold her money, although it cleared my account with Chase. Now hopefully this will fix that problem. She's been trying to get her payroll dept to direct deposit her checks, but she say's the woman never has time. I'd like to intervene on her behalf, but then feel maybe I should let her handle it on her own. Now I can just leave it alone.

I really wanted to teach her the best credit/banking skills early on so she doesn't make mistakes later. Or, if she does, she is aware of the damage ahead of time and what she needs to do to get past it. Life does happen.

Actually being able to deposit her checks without leaving our home should certainly impress her. I'm ready to see how this works. Should be interesting for us both.

Re: USAA Deposit At Home

I have a question about USAA activating the deposit at home service.

I did not realize that not all USAA members qualify for the service. The other day I had sent an email to USAA's checking account department about scanners before I go and invest money in a scanner for the deposit@home service. An employee promptly replied about the scanners but then gave me general information about the eligibility requirements and said I need to contact USAA to confirm my eligibility.

(1) I am puzzled by why this employee did not determine my eligibility prior to communicating to me.

(2) Can any and all follow-up communication(s) regarding deposit @ home that I have to make be handled by USAA's website's internal email, and if I am eligibile then can the service be activated through communicating by USAA's website's internal email ? From the pull-down menu on their website, I sent a follow-up email tonight to "Banking - Deposit@Home - Eligibility Requirements"

Thank you

"I received your email regarding our Deposit@Home feature. I can assist you.
