In checking Credit Check Total today I see that my EX score went down a point. In checking why I see a new inquiry from "Chase Card" on 6/19/16. I never applied for a new card and never applied for a CLI on my one existing Chase credit card.
I call Chase and they have nothing in their system to explain the new hard. They contact Experian directly with me on hold to verify that the hard pull is actually there on my real report which they did. The representative from the credit reporting department at Chase said she will call me back in about 3 days with hopefully more information.
I just pulled my 3 free reports last month so no freebies left this year. Also ticked that I never received an alert from CCT regarding this inquiry.
What at am I to do now if anything? Can this be an account review soft that showed up as a hard? Do new accounts take time to show up in Chase's system and is it possible that someone made an app in my name and Chase hasn't fully processed it yet so it's not visible to the reps I spoke to? Thanks for the help

At a loss right now since Chase themselves cant even explain how it occurred
Just to update...I call Chase again this morning to see if anything has changed or become visible in their system since last night. Both the credit bureau department, and the security department cannot find any requests of any kind against my social security number. They are convinced that no new account has been attempted to be opened in my name at this time. Even if the application wasn't approved and still pending ( like what happens with Chase a lot) they'd be able to see it...and they can't see anything.
The he credit bureau rep once again called Experian to verify a few things and he told me that he instructed Experian to remove the inquiry which will take up to 72 hours to reflect on my report. I have no freebie reports left to pull through ACR so I'll wait a week or so to pull my 3 bureau report from CCT and if I see any inquiries there I was instructed to call back and go through the same process to remove them. Everyone is stumped as to where the inquiry came from.
As as an aside CCT notified me of the inquiry on EX today so they apparently lag in notifications by a full business day or so.

OP, did you ask for CLI on any of your accounts on the day of the inquiry? I am not saying CHASE accounts. CHASE underwrites many other cards. Also, on your report, there should be a phone number listed under creditor's contact for the inquiry. Call that number. It will probably get you better answers. Good luck.
No I never asked for anything from anyone. Of my 4 credit cards I know which are hard pull for CLI and which are soft. And I know what bureau they would pull for each. I never initiated any action on my end.
I checked CCT last night and the inquiry has been removed. On Chases end they insist that they saw no pending action in their system that would have initiated a hard pull of any kind. They were just as stumped as I was which is why the rep immediately agreed to remove the HP since they couldn't put a finger on where it came from. They assured me that no new applications for credit were in their system of any kind made against my Ss#. I even asked if someone append and got a 7-10 day message or a 30 day message and hadn't been approved yet so there was no actual account yet and he said he'd be able to see that and he didn't.
Glitches happen ( I guess). Maybe is was an account review soft that was coded as a hard for some reason.
I provided the Chase rep with the PO box address and the telephone number listed on the inquiry section in CCT and he used that info to try and figure out where the inquiry came from but to no avail. We'll see if the Chase team calls me in a few days with and explanation but I'm not holding my breath. For now the inquiry is gone and I have been able to check the other bureaus and no new inquiries there at all. Hopefully just a glitch and isolated incident.

I had something like this happen on my Equifax report with PenFed. These things may take months to resolve but, it can be done.
In my case, an unauthorized HP from PenFed was posted to my report on 11/20/2015.
I discussed with PenFed and filed an online dispute with Equifax (note: as part of a dispute resolution you can get a copy of your credit report free of charge). I then wrote a cover letter to PenFed and included info from my credit report showing the hard inquiry. After sending the info to PenFed, I followed up with another phone call.. Penfed researched and agreed that the HP was in error and that a "correction on your credit report was necessary". I asked for a written letter.
I finally received a letter from PenFed in early January (letter dated 12/31/2015) which said: "inquiry dated 11/20/2015 has been removed from your Equifax credit bureau." . The inquiry was not actually "removed" but, Equifax did re-code it to a SP from a HP in February 2016. So, all told, it took 3 months to get the inquiry re-classfied as shown in the below CK inquiry trend for EQ.

I guess this stuff does happen from time to time. Fortunately for me the rep called Experian with me on hold and just verbally told them to remove it. No long drawn out process. From start to finish ( hopefully finished) it took around 2.5 days for me to see it, notify them with 2 different phone calls to having it be removed from my report.
