Last weekend I went car shopping with my son. He's 19 and this is the first time he's ever applied for credit. Needless to say I needed to co-sign for him because of that, which was no big deal. I was expecting a small ding for the hard pulls, but instead I got the inverse. My score went up a couple of points because of it. Never had that happen before and was unexpected.
Starting Score: EQ667/TU681/EX654Can't say I've ever had a score bump from an Inquiry. Always a few points ding.  Although today I received a 3 point bump on EX for having the total of all Card balances increase $37. Bizarre to me. I do have several Cards with zero bal but also a few cards with a bal. Definintely not AZEO.  Fico, go figure ![]()
Aging happens at the beginning of each month and the factors listed below could have offset the inquiries incurred applying for the auto loan. FYI
Note: Even though it says "decreased" I think they mean "increased"

Your score increase was not from the inquiries.

Ya, I don't think I have ever had a score increase ..due to inquiries.
I am hoping I can get 3 pts for my TU file
..would the score increase be related to indirectly(?) adding an installment loan?
I'd speculate a drop in revolving utilization and/or accounts with balances was the score booster.
OP - Did you have any open installment loans on file prior to the cosign? If not, any closed loans?
Definitely not caused by the inquiries.
