Update since being here.

When I started here recently, I thought there was no hope. But now I see some light. Even though I'm not close to a 36 month lease on a new BMW 745, I am digging my way out. And, don't let me forget to mention the help from this board and it's members!

Start - EQ 449
2 Months later ( 12-6 EQ 528 )
And expecting another jump soon from some new removals.
I got two increases so far. The first was from a 449 to a whopping 460. And the other day, I about fell out when I got an alert that it went to a 528.

Re: Update since being here.

If I hit a 600, I am buying rounds for all!!!! I wouldnt know what to do except cry. lol. I had a decent score right out of the Army in 2001, but was all downhill from there. Now that I am 26, I see the importance of a good score.

Question~ I am focusing on one CRA at a time. EQ first. When I get my EQ high enough to refi my car with a better rate, is there a way to find a lender that will only pull EQ. Cause my TU and EX are still going to be tanked till I work on each of those. Thanks!

Re: Update since being here.

good job JPS. Follow the advice given here about GW, DV, Disputes, know your SOLs, and use as many PFD letters as you can. It may take a few months to get everything cleaned up, and some things just take time to correct like lates and utility. Learn the good practices and eventually you'll be playing the FICO game like a pro.

Re: Update since being here.

My advice to to hit the biggest nastiest stuff first-

Save the low hanging fruit for last-

I was at 480 Nov/Dec 06 and will be breaking 700 soon.
There is hope.

Re: Update since being here.

JPS - make sure that you're trying to settle these collections with the OC first. If they're willing to take payment, the the CA's need to delete their entry on your CR.

If you do end up dealing with the CAs, only do it in writing. Check the SOL for your state, and if they are licensed to collect in your state. If they are and your within SOL, play nice, but ask for PFD. If they aren't or the debt is past SOL, be firm when using PFD.

Re: Update since being here.

jps

Here's a suggestion that may move you forward in 2 areas;

1. Join a credit union. NFCU is in my opinion #1 but I'm certain you'll make the right choice.

2. Credit unions are the best for refinancing autos.

Bottom Line: FICO likes a variety of credit types, a  revolving (CC) or installment (auto) type will open the door for additional points.
FICO scores on November 17, 2014 (prior to applying for and being approved my mortgage)

EX=738
EQ=735
TU=754

FICO scores on March 4, 2015 after being approved for mortgage and buying the home, the mortgage isn't yet reporting.
