@CreditCuriosity, my thoughts exactly.

@barrymc0904, how have you assembled this list?  Did you contact each financial institution and specifically ask them which credit score they use for underwriting?

I hear you. feel free to go ahead& contact away yourselves. but there are what 4700+ CUs& 7000+ banks in the US& above is near the entire exhaustive list of virtually all lenders using vantage in lending. list above would be .001% of that.

isnt that unbelievable statistically speaking when thinking of it in those terms. safe to say, when vantage was built out, they had ambitions greater than capturing <.002% of the underwriting market.

as @Brian_Earl_Spilner  said below, doesnt really take much for this to be overlooked, have years of DPs for chase using a eq5& that was gernerally unkown info. years of DPs of a CU using a specific mortgage score or etc -- yet, still lots of confusion whats being pulled.

just a brief search of above DPs will lead to the some conslusion of those being used in lending. lots of 'no idea what score theyre using as the score pulled doesnt match any of my below listed fico scores' on these. also a few 'doesnt seem to match my vantage 3.0 score but its very close.' thats because 4.0 was used.

bcu / wings / 5th third / bmo / petal / upstart / synchrony all are from recent personal exp& have other recent datapoints backing it up.

joiva / rbfcu / broadview / ssfcu all have multiple recent DPs& id try them myself if I had eligibility.

personally always known alliant to be a TU9 puller. looks like that has changed. always had diff DPs for veridian listed as well, but it looks like theyve switched somewhat recently, but im applying there tonight myself doing another round of 3-4 non chex CUs apps, can lyk what I find out.

petal& synchrony can hardly be a suprise they use vantage.

also have an exhaustive list of every bank SP vs HP early warning systems& sp vs hp on chex. all institutions using mortgage scores. put a lot of time into all these lists over past few yrs updating them etc.

but again, if anyone wants to confirm or negate the info themselves though, such would be much appreciated!

More than likely gathered from people posting and/or personal experience. The problem though is even if proof is submitted, if it goes against the grain, people will still dismiss it. For example, I used to work at chase. Despite saying they pull vantagescore, nobody believes me. Which is fine since how do you know if someone really works for who they claim, online. But I posted photos in the past of the reports chase has pulled as well as my southwest denial where I was denied for vantagescore along with screenshot of my vantagescore. Even reconed and confirmation from analyst. People still won't accept it. Was told I was mistaken. What can you do?

Personally, I just add things like this to my list of datapoints and remember a lender can pull all variations of credit scores and will use whatever suits them, which is what chase does. They can use vantagescore, fico 8, auto, cars, whatever they want to justify their decision. For my last auto loan with chase they pulled 3 different fico scores. My last loan with LFS the dealer pulled all that could be used and chose my highest score to get the approval. It just depends on the lender and analyst looking at the data.

lol +1. cognitive dissonance. also, theres maybe what .003% of the market using vantage if you tripled the amount of lenders in my list, hows that so unbelievable?

Two questions:

  1. What is the source of this list?
  2. Are you sure the list of financial institutions use either version of Vantage for underwriting decisions?

I spotted an inconsistency (Alliant) with the existing crowdsourced thread in General Credit https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/General-Credit-Topics/Which-Report-Will-They-Pull-Part-2/td-p/63797...

I do not know which entry is correct, only that they aren't the same.

+1 same. was always showing alliant as a TU9 puller. looks like they've changed recently. wether that change is permanent and consistent is for time to say though!

A lot of those institutions might provide that to consumers to see although likely don't use that for lending decisions as cheap to provide vantage scores to consumers vs. ficos and they try to sell it as value added.  Vantage scores are usually always going to be higher than FICOs for the most part although Vantage 4.0 might reflect more close to FICOS, but many factors go into this.  Just due to the score number being higher than FICO really means nothing if they as mentioned use FICO or internal scoring methods for approvals and account maintenance.

My VS3.0 (TU an EQ, I don't have an EX source currently) have tracked pretty close to my FICO 8.  For TU they're the same and right now EQ8 is 10pts lower, but is generally within 10 pts one way or another.  They VS3.0 scors are consistently lower than my FICO 9 however.

my 3.0 scores are like 40 points higher than my highest ficos lol.

lots of free eq/tu 3.0 scores out there obviously. Nav provides a free experian 3.0 though as havent seen that talked about much or at all elsewhere on here!

Re: Vantage Puller List

So just some clarification as some of these were my DPs.

Alliant will only pull EX if there is trouble with them trying to "read" your TU file. They were unable to view the file after it was pulled, so they offered to pull EX or EQ instead. They REQUIRE a pull from TU to start with and will proceed with a pull from a different bureau if there's a problem.

As for Jovia, I've had them in the past. They're solidly meh as well as their products. I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

agree with above my offers weren't any good, but they are solid pre-approvals, like redstone

what we need a list of CU's that use that suite of software that offers solid, soft pull pre-approvals

To make it simple as many have mentioned Vantage is for entertainment purposes only.

While this is case for you it isnt uncommon for VS for people to be 100 points higher than their FICO 08's.  Vantage 3.0 is crud imho, 4.0 is a lot better and getting traction and whether a lender uses or doesn't use it for UW people will continue to debate

08 Scores - TU: 839 - EXP:839 - EQ:838
