What should my next move be? Newer to Credit

Hello everyone, I am currently sitting at a 704 Credit score after just 7 months of history. I have 0 debts and currently have three cards with a combined limit of $5,300. What should my next move be in order to increase my score? I would like to get an uber or costco card but I am not naive enough to think that I would qualify for them just yet. My current three cards are the Cap One quicksilver, and both of the chase freedom cards.

Do you have any installment loans open? Auto, Student Loan, Mortgage, etc.. If you look on your Fico reports under the section that says what is hurting your score, the first item is what is hurting you the most. If you don't have a loan, then you may want to look at getting one or perhaps do a secured savings loan or SSL if you are not really interested or need to borrow any money.

When you say that you have zero debts, does that mean that all your credit cards are reporting zero?  If so, you are taking a 20-point penalty for that.

Yes my utilization is currently 0%. I have been paying them off as soon as I purchase something.

OK so my advice is:

@1. Start letting the Capital One card report a small statement balance, then pay it off immediately after the statement. Let the 2 Chase cards report zero balances. As @Anonymous notes this will pick up some points for you fast, in the short run.

2. For the long run I think it would be prudent to refrain from making further applications at this time; let your account get seasoned. You already have enough credit cards for an 850 score at this point. So the main thing is to increase your age of oldest account, and average age of accounts, and to avoid inquiries and new accounts.

Then, down the road, as your scores increase, you can go for cards you really will get some mileage out of. If you don't feel the need for more cards, don't get them.

Welcome! Great advice given already, and there is not much more I can add, other than a little tip. When you do app, try not to apply for loans or cards that don't make sense for you either financially or other. While it is great to work on your score, I believe you should do it within your means so that you never over extend yourself. I agree with the thought of holding off on applications and grow what you have, as well as keeping your utilization down.

What is the source of your 704 score?

If you're getting the score from your Cap One or Chase accounts, be aware that it's not a FICO score and thus not a meaningful score.  You can grab a free EX FICO 8 score at creditscore.com or creditscorecard.com if you currently know it or otherwise have access to it.

Well if you already have 2 cards with Chase, I'm not sure why you think that you wouldn't qualify for a card from Barclays/Citi.  They can be inquiry/new account sensitive but having multiple accounts from Chase is a good sign.

Work slowly. You have three great cards. Not many people can say that they've gotten two Chase cards during their first seven months of history.

Also keep in mind that the acquisition of any subsequent cards will likely cause score dips. That's OK; you'll recover quickly. But it's important to point that out. People frequently see immediate score increases when acquiring their first two or three cards. Then they spree on a bunch of cards and are unpleasantly surprised to see their scores take a tumble.

I'd probably look to apply again when your newest card is about six months old. If you want to wait longer, that's fine too.
