Re: What subscription is best for me ?

I have covered most of that in my previous post. If you had signed up for the one year free TrustedID with Equifax after the breach, you can lock your EQ through TrustedID. If you didn't sign up at the time and unable to right now, or when the one year free period runs out, the cheapest way is to subscribe to the most basic premium package by TransUnion for $9.95/month which gives you the ability to lock both your TU and EQ.

Re: What subscription is best for me ?

I'm still new to this, what exactly does locking and unlocking does for me ? How does this benefit me. Again guys, you're all great thank you for the quick responses. I'm reading every single one and taking all this info in. Very helpful.

I thought TrustedID TOS read "Can't sue Equifax for data breach."

Kree, EQ later amended it under pressure.

“To confirm, enrolling in the free credit file monitoring and identity theft protection products that we are offering as part of this cybersecurity incident does not prohibit consumers from taking legal action. We have already removed that language from the Terms of Use on the site http://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com. The Terms of Use on http://www.equifax.com do not apply to the TrustedID Premier product being offered to consumers as a result of the cybersecurity incident. Again, to be as clear as possible, we will not apply any arbitration clause or class action waiver against consumers for claims related to the free products offered in response to the cybersecurity incident or for claims related to the cybersecurity incident itself.”

Locking or freezing your reports helps protecting yourself from identity theft by blocking access to opening new accounts (in most cases), read through this EQ data breach thread for better understanding.
