Thanks so much.

Re: What to do? Please give feedback!!

Know your states debt collecting SOLs.

Always try to deal with OC for PFDs on valid debts.  This includes medical.  You can still offer a settlement amount, they might accept that if you cannot PIF... but get it in writing that the settlement is for legally settled in full.  Do not pay without a PFD agreement from the creditor, or CA if it comes down to that

GW all paid derog accounts, including the collections.  Wash, rinse, repeat till it's gone.  If one department does not work, try to get another addy or departmental name to send it to.  As a last resort if nothing is working, try planet feedback on the net... but leave that as your last option.

DV all collections CMRRR.  For medical collections, before you DV, search these forums and google for whychat HIPAA for a mountain of information on how to use any rights you might have.  Dispute anything that is not yours or inaccurate on your CBRs after you have sent out your DV that corresponds to that particular TL.

Are you sure that last CA was IIB for that amount?  It seems to have been assigned after the fact and I question if it is reporting incorrectly, or was mistakenly transferred to this CA after IIB.  You may need to dispute this one in addition to DVing.  If this was the CA IIB and the amount is correct, you would need to contact them to let them know that they are liable for costs and sanctions back in BK court for violations.  This usually results in a full delete instead of an update especially if they have been reporting incorrectly for this many years.

Re: What to do? Please give feedback!!

Interesting. I have 2 collections from local utility companies. I know that I could easily call and pay these, but am not sure how they would respond to a PFD. Would it be better to PFD CMRRR the utility co's first and then if they refuse move on to the CA? The CA for both is a small local company with only one office here in town. I could literally walk in and offer the PFD, get it in writing, pay it and walk out. Do you still think it's better to work with the OC? I called the CA and they said they had no info about my accounts except my name, address and the amount and they never send me letters. These 2 collections are some of my more recent ones that I'd really like to get rid of. Thoughts?

This sounds like the easiest OC PFD and CA removal ever!   Are both currently reporting or just CA?  Curiosity.

Just the CA. Easy? I like the sound of that. From what you said, it sounds like I PFD the OC and have THEM make the CA remove the report. Am I understanding that correctly?

Exactly, as long as they really do still own it.  Do a single PFD referencing both accounts and mail it though... rethinking on just dropping in and I think mailing it is better.

Once paid you can DV and dispute those CAs if you wish, or just wait for all to update and remove.

Re: What to do? Please give feedback!!

I think they do still technically own it because the lady at the CA said I should call the OC for information because she didn't have any. I wanted service dates, mailing dates, etc. She had nothing. I'm gonna get right on that!!

Fabulous!  Good luck.  If you think you might not agree with any of the charges, get all of those back bills to peruse over first and consider a settlement PFD with OC.

Re: What to do? Please give feedback!!

the total amount for both bills is less than $200 and I know they are mine. I will offer full payment because I want them off REALLY BAD. Thanks so much for the heads up on this. Does the standard PFD work? I mean it says stuff like "i'm not necessarily claiming this debt" and "in the interest of compromise" kind of stuff, but they are mine and i know it. I could soften the language on that letter a bit and get the same result don't you think? Or is there a "friendlier" letter floating around out there that is used in situations like these?
