Question for y'all, why would Navy Federal change my reporting date?
my NFCU secured Visa statement date is the 27th of every month. Always has been this. And it would update with the three CB on the 28th.
This last month it skipped all of May (even thought my statement date still shows 5/27/21 on the app) and just reported today. I made sure it was at 3% on the 26th so I thought I was all good. Until I noticed online today this just it just reported sometime today.
What could have caused this?
Have you called them to ask? Theyre open 24/7 though you may need a special department with limited hours.
I always thought they reported balance once the statement closes. If they've made a mistake they may fix it for you if you raise a big enough stink. If you don't need to use your credit for anything before next month it's probably not worth the hassle of a call.
I literally just noticed so thought I'd ask here first. That's all . Didn't know if this happens often or is even possible.
So I called NFCU. They reported I had a balance of $6 on the 27th as per what's been normal.
they have no idea how the CB would have today's information or how they would have gotten it because no one sent them anything.
They suggested I call and dispute it.
I need to check mine and hope that it hasn't changed . . . otherwise I will need to update my payment date. Thanks for posting this information!!!

Do not take their suggestion on this. Unless this has caused some credit catastrophe, disputing something because it reported on the incorrect day for one month would not be worth your time and hassle. I would wait it out and see how it posts next month and go from there.

X2
There is zero grounds for a dispute. The information reported was accurate. While most lenders report balances on a pattern, there is no requirement that they do so. Sync, for example, has had many reports of mid-cycle balance reports.
If you were attempting to keep utilization down by timing your payments, sure this instance sucks. But, it's not the end of the world and certainly nothing to dispute.
I'm not going to dispute it. I was just saying what the representative instructed.
My NFCU MC should report any day at a $0 balance, so that should bring down the utilization spike. So I'm not sweating it.
Like someone said, I just like timing my statement to maximize a lower utilization.
Just a heads up, now TU reported a balance today from NFCU from the same credit card, now with an even higher balance because I had my autopay come out late last night for a charge.
So Experian updated yesterday, and now TU today.
What a show this is lol
Lol! Tbh,
I think a lot of companies are reporting late since COVID and with so many of their staff telecommuting.
@Anonymous I've called NFCU and also been told the same thing about just filing a dispute over my issue. My personal impression of those instructions is that it is the easiest way to get my concern to the correct internal group who handles those request. Since disputes are time sensitive, they probably prioritize responding to them over the same request that come from an internal email that's not a formal dispute. I didn't get the impression that it would cause any friction with NFCU. I'm glad the delay didn't cause a hardship to you and wasn't worth disputing.
