cap 1 causing score problems !

I have 2  capital one  CO's back in 2004,  they are also listed with a CA.     ScoreWatch just told me that I had a balance increase on 2 accounts and sure enough it was the capital one accounts.  I am confused, i thought if it was charged off and sold, then basically the cc company was done with it??  help set me straight someone, sure dont want to contact them until i can sound somewhat intelligent about it !    thanks a mil

Re: cap 1 causing score problems !

Who is reporting on your reports? Are the accounts still listed with cap 1 reporting it or does it list a specific CA?  I also have a CO cap one account and got a score watch up date because my balance had increased im assuming due to the interest fees,  my account is still being reported by cap 1 even thought I have received notice from a CA on it.

Re: cap 1 causing score problems !

hey thanks for answering.  I just got an updated report and it is not showing any CA now for Cap 1.  It is for interest,  so i guess they can charge it off and still charge interest ??  wow, arent i paying enough for my screw-ups with the credit score penalty?  So i guess I should call them or write to them,  I am getting ready to do a mortgage and the score drop  hurts to say the least.  One is for almost 800 and the other is 1009.00 now.  ohhh what to do??!!

Re: cap 1 causing score problems !

I would offer a PFD on both. ASAP.
But: Cap1 is NOTORIOUS for saying no to PFDs and GWs.
I'm sure that if you are getting a mortgage, the lender will require you to pay those off. Good luck!

Re: cap 1 causing score problems !

Thanks.  PFD's going out today, worth a try.  Yes, its a refinance that I am striving for (converting from 8 yr contract, 45,000.00 equity)  I was concerned about having to get them paid off before I was really ready,  but I am sure (my luck) it will be required.  Keeping my fingers crossed...

Re: cap 1 causing score problems !

Cap 1 was doing the same thing to me.  I eventually settled at about for about 60% of the amount owed.
