correction request info needed

Hello everyone,

I just ran all 3 CR's and found several errors that I need to have corrected. I'm not sure if all requests for correction need to be in writing or if some can be taken care of with a phone call. I've edited this to be a little more specific so maybe I can get advice.

Experian:
1. includes incorrect former names
2. date of birth isn't reported
3. current address is incorrect (this one has the possibility of being tampering as the address was changed to a po box that my soon to be ex purchased approx. 1 month ago. I didn't request an address change with anyone at any time) My actual current address is now listed as former address.
4. there is no record of employer. I've been employed forever. Would this have an impact on my credit score? Is this hurting my score or possible a lenders decision if they are looking for stability?
5. account from 5/94 showing. It's in good standing. Don't know if its mine or not. $0 balance. Should I leave it alone? Status is listed as "inactive"
6. collection that was included in 2003 bankruptcy showing with balance still owed with status listed as seriously past due.
7. 2 other collections also included in bankruptcy have no notation where it should be showing $0 balance.
8. Big baddie: Judgment from 7/06 which was actually a medical bill for my husband. Hospital is telling me that in the state of Missouri the husband is assumed head of household and my name shouldn't have even been on it. I think I may be able to take care of this one in person with the hospital and then the court if the hospital withdraws it from my name. I'm not sure about the best way to handle this one.
9. Satisfied judgment from 3/03 which actually was a result of my own irresponsibility. Can you GW a judgment off a record?

For those that should be in writing, should they be sent RRR?

Errors on the other 2 reports are similar and not quite as bad as Ex. Sorry for the length. I didn't realize just how many errors there were until I started typing.

Again, any advice you can give me is much appreciated!

Re: correction request info needed

Here is some Info to get you started.

#1   EX Names

If you already tried to delete incorrect names online with EX and are getting the error  reported by Blah, Blah, Blah
You will have to try and call and speak to EX rep over the phone and dispute info, or make them provide you with Info provider so you can follow up.

Tough with EX, I am having the same problem.  Had ID theft and have numerous names varitions. Good Luck on this one.

I was able to call EQ and TU and correct over the phone with current report in hand.

#2  Address, Employment, Phone#

Just mail reg mail with letter stating correct INFO and include copy of DL, SS Card, and Current Util Bill, they will update with no problem.  Do this with all three CRA's

I would correct all personal INFO with all CRA's and get as many old addresses and phone # deleted first.  Also I would recommend that you opt out with all CRA's prior to beginning any Disputes on accounts. It makes it harder for OC and CA to verify INFO with CRA's.

More answers coming.!

Re: correction request info needed

For #3, it might not be fraudulent. When I was getting divorced, I had forwarded my mail (for my name only), and I got a letter that was addressed to my soon-to-be-ex at the time. Of course I gave it to her.

So, the post office might have just messed up and forwarded you mail to his PO Box (especially if you have the same last name). I think some creditors get notices if a letter they sent has been forwarded.

Info on Opt-Out

To Opt-Out simply means you will stop receiving pre-approved credit offers from companies thru the mail, it also prevents companies fro doing soft pulls on your CR that could be trying to update their information on you. It does not affect your score, and you can Opt-IN at any time. I would suggest fixing all errors on your report and staying Opted-Out though. This stops a lot of junk-mail too.

If you want preapproved offers after you fix reports, just opt-in.

The website is here.     www.OptOutPrescreen.com  You can read up  and opt-out or opt-in on their site.

Re: correction request info needed

It's not that my mail was forwarded to his po box. Experian has actually changed my current address to his po box. I found his purchase receipt from the box and it's dated 2/1/08 which to me seems a little quick for them to have changed it already. I do know that it may be a legit error that he has nothing to do with. But I also have to consider the possibility that he has tampered with things because
1. he has threatened to destroy me financially
2. he has all the information he needs to do so
3. he works part time at a dealership in finances and has access to programs he can use to do damage.

I'm probably paranoid but I'd rather be paranoid and take precautions than wake up one day finding out my scores are in the toilet.

I tried to call experian this morning and all I get is an automated system with no option to speak with a real live person. Does anyone know of a contact #?

Re: correction request info needed

What A Jerk!!!   He needs to grow up and move on.

If you are legally divroced, let CRA'S know he no longer has any legal reason to access your reports for any reason whatsoever.  Update your Address, Write in and requesy for either a fraud alert or an extended fraud alert ( I recommend extended) be added to your file along with personal statement regarding X.

If he does use his position at finance dept to cause you financial hardship. You could sue him and the company he works for, as well as get him fired.  Hope He's not that stupid.  Sounds like a big whinebag to me.
