discover made a mistake on my reports and doesn't know how to fix it

my discover card is showing paid for august on EX, but not on TU and EQ. the reports say the info was "updated aug 20" but instead of a green-box PAID its showing a blank-box of NO-DATA.

i called discover and they were totally clueless, don't know how to fix it. so i asked for an off-cycle report, and they said it would take a few days. well, it's almost the 20th of sept which is when it will update again anyhow. and they don't know if an update will even fix the missing payment data. do you think i have to dispute this at TU and EQ, or is it going to magically fix itself?

i thought if they screw up your credit reports they have to send you a free copy of it? well discover didn't know anything about that either, so i have to get that on my own. and i just did a $1 EX trial so i can't pull my reports from there for a while.

i was impressed with discover's customer service up til now. this rep told me they cant fix it, didn't know what an off-cycle report was, kept putting me on hold, and kept trying to just end the call without fixing anything.

Your credit reports are fine "no data" is scored no different than the green boxes. No point in disputing since no data may be technically accurate on their end. I wouldn't invest too much time trying to fix this if it were me. I have student loans with years of no data, never an issue.

i will fight for my green boxes because i have a perfect payment history and i don't want anyone to think i have gaps in it. what i think is happening is that experian just updates the info faster sometimes than the other 2, they're lagging behind a whole month. very weird. i'll keep an eye on it.

To each their own.

As the other poster suggested, I would also not try to "correct" what you perceive to be an error in this case.  This is not negatively reflecting on your "perfect payment history".  Keep an eye on it, sure, but the path of trying to change those to green is fraught with danger.

IMO.

Knock yourself out, however, you need to learn to pick your battles in the credit world and this one is one not worth wasting your energy on, for as in the end it doesn't matter.

Your FICO credit scores are not just numbers, it’s a skill.

I agree, when ive looked at my reports with those boxes, all i care is there is no red or missed payments. A lender should be able to tell if you are credit worthy by other means/factors.
