I recently went on a hunt and secured some nice new cards. I am planning to say goodbye of 3 three of my rebuilder cards.
But before I do that I wanted to make sure they were all updated with my CR. The one I am most interested in was opened
in 2000. And up until this past July it was reporting correctly to TU and EQ and never showed on ER. I called Cap one three
times to ask that it be reported to all bureaus. Here we are almost two months later and nothing. I cant do anything with the
bureau because they tell me to call cap one.
I dont want to cancel this until its reported because 11 years of not one single payment will look good for quite some time.
Any ideas on how to get the bloody thing to start reporting again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course the irony is this started just shortly after I PIF.......
Whens the last time you used that CapOne?
last charge was July
If in July, then you can rule out inactivity or closure. Was it ever disputed? Sometimes disputing it, even if something innocent like a balance, can cause the premature removal of a perfectly good TL.
How many statements have hit after it disappeared? I'd give them two statements to adjust (should be very soon I suppose). If after two statements (same as two reporting cycles), then I'd keep bugging CapOne, gripe, make complaints, etc.. The CRAs can't do anything because they can't report something that isn't being reported to them.
Once they have initially reported to a CRA, they have an obligation under FCRA 623(a)(2)(B) to promptly notify the CRA of any information necessary to maintian the reported information "complete and accurate." If informal requests have not worked, you can always file a direct dispute with them, disputing the completeness and accuracy of the reported information due to failure to comply with section 623(a)(2)(B).
The peril in pushing the matter is that, if they are not interested in maintaining the account, they could just report its entire deletion from your credit file, thus causing the loss of the entire account.
so wait I am confused, do I dispute it with the CR or cap one? Cap one has told me three times they took care of it but I have nothing on my reports. Of course its affecting the overall of my accounts now
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You always have the option to choose your venue for dispute. While it ultimately gets back to the OC either way, you can either use the process of disputing through the intermediary of the CRA under section 611(a), or disputing directly with the creditor under section 623(a)(8). The dispute process carries with it a statutory requirement to correct should they agree with your dispute. That is a bit stronger than a promise.
I recommend using the direct dispute process. If they agree with your dispute, that requires them to correct the disputed information with all three CRAs, thus obviating your need to file a dispute through each CRA.
What is it exactly that you are disputing? It doesn't report to any of the three bureaus anymore? Or it is still reporting on TU and EQ but not on EX?
Either way, I don't see how you can dispute anything. Robert's post said that the danger with pushing this is that they could delete the entire tradeline. But that sounds like what they have done. Or are you saying that it still appears on TU and EQ but that they aren't sending information for August and September? I'm just not clear on what the dispute would be.
As a side note, while I know the conventional wisdom is that Capital One reports to all three bureaus, I have a Cap One that has never reported to Experian.
It once was reporting to all three CR but now its only reporting to EQ. Its really TU that I care about and I just dont understand why its been reporting for years and
suddenly goes away!!!
OP, did you dispute it recently?
