getting inquiries deleted

On another site, poeple say they have disputed inquiries online with Equifax and that they have come off almost immediately.  It is not working for me.  Anyone do this with success and if so, how long did it take and how much did score rise?

Don't dispute accurate Inqs.

Re: getting inquiries deleted

I have only disputed ones I honestly don't remember authorizing.  For example, when I bought my car, apparently they called like 10 places.  I knew they were trying to get me financed but no idea they were calling all over the world.  Is that wrong to dispute?  Some, I have no idea what they are.

Technically they had permissiable purpose.. Inqs have very little impact. IMO, the risks of disputing (fraud alerts) are not worth it.

Re: getting inquiries deleted

I disputed 6 inq's out of 13 i got for auto loan. they were deleted in about 5 days but no noticable change in score so like tusc said not really worth it.

Re: getting inquiries deleted

I had several inquiries within the past year, in fact 25 in the past 2 years. I really don't think it has a huge impact on your score personally because my credit score is still a 688. My suggestion would be to dispute what's inaccurate and just focus on getting your debt down and not adding any new inquiries for a while. How many inquiries do you have?

Re: getting inquiries deleted

I disputed around 5 inquiries with EQUIFAX. They got deleted within 2-3 weeks. One of them got denied but i redisputed and they removed it. My score increased 0 points in that period by the way.

Re: getting inquiries deleted

When you get shopped for a car loan they lump together the inquiries so you don't get dinged, as long as they are within specific short time frame. That's why you won't see a big drop with several inquiries for auto financing.

Re: getting inquiries deleted

I had my credit pulled by (2) different dealerships for a total of 25 times (most are to the same auto financers) on different dates. I went to the dealerships with a preapproval letter in hand for my financing that clearly stated my credit need not be pulled again. I went from 726 equifax now I have a 568. Do I deal with the dealerships or each individual lender on the report to get them pulled. I told them very specificalIy I didn't want them to pull my credit although they told me they could get me a better interest rate. They did anyway and I am still financed through my own lender.
