myfico vs auto-enhanced??

So I just today pulled my credit at an auto-dealership (using 800fico.com) Which says under score summary:
EXP/FAIR ISAAC AUTO SCORE 2  =  631  SCORE FACTORS:39, 18, 32, 98
Myfico.com shows my EXP being 653

So my questions would be:
1) What causes the differences between the two?  I was under the impression that Auto scores tended to be higher than myfico scores.

2) What do the "score factors" mean?  This might be a tough one to answer...

3)  Why does credit have to be so damned confusing?(rhetorical)
Starting score: EQ08 - 590 (08/14)

EQ08 - 662 : DCU - 656
TU08 - 656 : CK - 655
EX08 - 636 : CS - 674

Re: myfico vs auto-enhanced??

What do you mean by saying you pulled the scores?

If used at all by dealerships (which in my case they never have) Auto Enhanced scores are based solely on your past experiences with auto loans....so if you had repos etc. then it would lower than standard FICO scores or excellent payment history would reflect a better score than MYFico.....

If you pulled these scores on your own at a website other than myfico these are just fako scores and don't mean anything.

Re: myfico vs auto-enhanced??

You probably have either never had an auto loan (or one of your current report), or you have a late payment or repo on a past auto loan. The formula takes your FICO score on here an in effect emphasizes the auto portion (though other factors still count - just not as much). That isn't the technical explanation but it is in effect what happens.

You shouldn't have been able to pull the score yourself unless you have an account to pull other people's scores as a lender. That score is not sold to the public. Did your dealer just tell you what it was?

Re: myfico vs auto-enhanced??

Well I know that its not based "entirely on your past auto experience" and the other scores I was quoting are off of myfico.    Ive had nothing but perfectly paid auto's, so if it was based only on autos i'd be alot stronger.  I am a dealer, which is why I have access to the bureau.  I was just wondering why it is the scores on that bureau are lower than myfico and if anyone knew what each individual "factor" was.  I know it's an off-the-wall question, but it interests me.

Re: myfico vs auto-enhanced??

I saw my auto-enhanced score at a Toyota dealer in May. It was considerably lower than my real FICO, which I had pulled that same morning. At the bottom of the 1 page report was an explanation of the score factors. I might still have it at home - but maybe not, since I wa so PO'd at the time, I probably threw it away.

Actually, it was  a blessing in disguise. I got a muuuuch lower lease rate through NFCU. Toyota - and all dealers - have lost my business.

Re: myfico vs auto-enhanced??

Yeah I understand. Well it's sadly not us dealers that decide your interest rate.  Along with any other credit app. it is dictated by the bank.  We can rarely beat CU rates as strong as NFCUs usually are, except for those customers who are fortunate enough to be what we call "bullets".  750+ usually.  So don't always blame it on the dealer.  We would MUCH rather have you finance through a bank we use.  It gives the opportunity to make money either off the bank or off you product wise.  When a customer secures their own financing, it kills our gross.  So trust me when I say they are looking for the best rate they can get! (We do at least)

Re: myfico vs auto-enhanced??

I think dealers ought to look at skipping the auto-enhanced version. It looks at fewer factors than the full report. I don't know that it predicts as well as they'd like it to.

Are dealers completely locked into the reported scores, or do they look at the report as well, and adjust upwards or downwards?
