removing 120 days late

Question:  I am getting 30 days late removed from my credit report.  My credit report is showing 120 days late.  So, i am going from 120 days late to 90 days late.  What kind of impact on my score will this do?  The 120 days late happened in March07 - july 07.  July 07 is being removed.

Thanks in advanced

Re: removing 120 days late

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you saying you had (1) 30-day late and (1) 120-day late in 2007?

Re: removing 120 days late

Sorry,  I had a cc that was passed due 120 days.  THe CCC is fixing only 30 days of that 120 days late.  So instead of 120 days late on my CR it is only going to show 90 days late. Would there be a score increase  by just removing 30 days off my CR.

Re: removing 120 days late

You can see the impact of lates here:

http://www.allaboutthebenjamins.org/BreakdownofCreditReport.html

To answer your question, you will probably see a slight increase, but only a few points. It will also look a little better on a manual review. You did catch the account up and brought it current, and that will look favorable to humans reviewing your report.

A 90-day late also decays a little faster in its impact on your FICO score than a 120-day late.

Keep the account current, and toward the end of the year bug the CC company to remove the lates entirely.

Re: removing 120 days late

I don't entirely agree. Once a late payment hits 90 days it's already a serious derogatory and this can be just as damaging as any other serious derogs such as: a collection, CO, PR or a 120+ day late. So IMO, I would not expect much improvement in scores bewtween a 90-day and a 120-day late.

I don't think that TNWM said anything too different than what you said Fused.
