Congratulations J!!!Smiley Wink

On the downside I think the general consensus here is that SLs are hard to get any GW on because of the HigherEducation Act (I think that's what it call).  But keep trying, you never know.

Re: score increase of 34 points!!!!!

yes im trying, i got in touch with one person at sallie mae and they wanted to remove the late payments because her husband is in the airforce as well and she understands that i had no way of arranging payment while i was in basic training but what her boss is saying is that i should have made arrangements to repay this before i entered training.  Understandable but shoot cut me a lil slack Smiley Sad, its soon to be paid off anyway so ill have one less loan to worry about.

Re: score increase of 34 points!!!!!

it's so funny you should mention getting rid of old lates from Sallie mae. I just got a letter back from my GW...stating that Sallie Mae follows very strict guidelines of the law when it comes to reporting..they don't report until 90 days late, and they WILL not under any circumstances remove it. THey know that it is correct information. Quote, unquote.. Smiley Sad

You are stuck with them if they are valid. The Higher Education Act requires that all
student loans report for the full seven years.

Hey Jenkins Glad to see the improvements. I'm in the military as well. Don't forget there are 2 cards available out there for you given by the military to help imporve your credit. The Military Star card which I think is what you have now, and there's a card called the "Take it home today" it is also referred to as the Military Star Card 2 it used to make large purchases over 500 which starts you off with an ok credit limit. I've used that and other things to help improve my credit over the course of a year. Not only that, the two of those cards offer great interest rates for military personnel and get this, they do automatic CLI. They work just like any other CCC which operates in 6 month cycles. So if you stick with your 1-9% UTL in a matter of months 500 will turn into 900-1200 then from 1200-2400 you get the picture. Also if you do have a Major CC at this time I.E and you haven't informed them of your military status you should strongly do so because that is the difference between a 8-14% APR or higher to a standard 6% APR just for being Active duty. So take advantage of what the military offers. While we're on the subject, have you tried seeking credit through USAA?
