I have refrained from pursuing new bank accounts because I was in Chexsystems hell last fall.
About five months have past and I want to app for some bank accounts.
Here are my stats for Chexs HPs:
last 3 months 0 Chexsystems inquiries
last 6 months 1 Chexsystems inquiries
last 12 months 6 Chexsystems inquiries
last 24 months 10 Chexsystems inquiries
I know that each bank or credit union has different criteria. That being said, has enough time past so that I am unlikely be denied opening a bank account soley for having too many Chexsystems inquiries?
It varies per bank/cu. I have way more then that (28) and I haven't had any problems. I just recently signed up for Wells Fargo's bonus offer, Citi and opened a Capital One checking.
There's also a Early Warning report...

if there are very chex sensitive banks, they would have freaked at 3/12, not just at 6/12
I wouldn't put too much worry into it especially being 1/6
I doubt there's any bank that's worth waiting out 12-24 months of no inquiries just because they are chex skittish
assuming your chex and EWS are clean, of course

Generally, small banks and credit unions will be more skittish.
