Best CU to join?

Here is my current situation :

I am in the process of rebuilding my credit. Here are my score currently:

Equifax - 611
Transunion - 582
Experian - 613

I just added 3 secured Credit cards to my revolving credit Since I have paid off all my old debts and do not have any current credit cards. I currently have a motorcycle loan through Harley Davidson that is at a very high interest rate of 22%. I am looking for a credit union to join because I am going to need to go for an auto loan in the next few months. Most likely by October. What CU should I join?

I did see an article from 2015 on the best credit unions but I don’t know if that article is still accurate.

Credit unions have qualification requirements for membership.

I would first investigate, without concern for who is the "best," those credit unions for which you have an established basis for membership, such as government credit unions if a federal employee, defense credit unions if a vet, or a credit union affiliated with your employer or community group.

That listing will likely be small, after which you can assess the relative merits of each.

First you might want to look into local credit unions, credit unions available to employees of certain companies, geographically limited credit unions, etc.

Of the credit unions open to everyone, I'm very satisfied with PenFed, Langley, Vantage West, Unify, and Affinity FCU.

NFCU, which is very good, is available if you've had a close relative who was in the armed services.

Also bear in mind that you can usually join a credit union if you have a close relative who's a member.

If they ever remake the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy will close her eyes & click her heels and say, "There's no place like Navy. There's no place like Navy. There's no place like Navy!"

I wish I could go for Navy Federal credit union but I have no family members that served.

It's easy, just pay small membership fee to one of several charities they are affiliated with.
