I was able to cut more expenses recently. My auto insurance rate was decreased from $300 every 6 months to $85 every 6 months for the same coverage. Then I received a notice from my new insurance company that due to the pandemic, they were crediting $10 per month back to me. So, that adds up to $4.17 monthly. Thanks gabi.com! FYI, anyone who lives in a state that allows credit scores to be a factored into insurance rates or who has improved their credit scores might wish to consider either renegotiating a better deal with their current insurance company, or shop around for a better deal.
Congratulations on your success! I absolutely encourage people to shop around for insurance on a yearly basis to look for savings. I recently switched to a broker for making this easier and have saved thousands on auto insurance.

Congrats!
Thanks for the heads up on gabi.com. Very interesting. Couldnt find a comparable quote for auto (currently at $160/mo vs quotes for $230/mo). But it does look like there are savings to be hand on renters insurance

@sxa001 Thanks for mentioning a broker. Can you share a little more about your experience with your broker? I’m preparing to possibly switch my insurance.

I want to preference that I am not endorsing any company and I have no financial gain to mention the route I took other than the fact that I am saving money but I was already saving the money before mentioning the name.
So the route I took is not a brokerage per se. I used Goosehead insurance, the "agent" I was referred to had worked with my loan officer and it was just easy to do my home owners and required flood insurance through him and I got him to look at my automobile insurance he was able to save me @$2000 on car insurane per year, I was way over paying and I had known this for a long time. They act like "agents" and have a service department to service your policies and such and you pay as small fee for this service but of course they represent a number of different insurance companies so they are able to find deals. I think there are other companies like this or you can go to a traditional broker.
