Not quite cc stuff but close.
I am a staunch defender of Capital One, but even I will sometimes waver....
We have largely unused Cap One internet bank accounts (pre 360). My wife just received a renewal debit card, with a 3/18 date replacing a 3/15 card. I didn't really think much about why I didn't receive one, but later I found mine, with expiration 2/15. So I called Cap One to see what had happened, I assumed that they had sent the card a month ago but it hadn't arrived (perhaps things got lost in the Boston snowstorm horror) and that they would send me a renewal card making sure that the other wasn't active.
It only took about an hour to get this worked out, with them eventually deciding the thing to do was to send me a renewal card. (Good idea!) In between lots of discussion explaiing that their system showed my card with exp 2/18, replacing an older card with 2/15, had been blocked (maybe because it wasn't activated in time) but that they could unblock it for me. That's nice, but since I don't have the 2/18 card, unblocking it won't do ME any good, and could, just possibly, do someone else some good!
I thought their banking side was meant to be better than cc. Apparently not on this sample.
For me Cap one has always been quirky... I hated them for a long time, they had bought out my oldest active card so i was forced to ride it out with them.. Now, I tend to use my QS a lot, as it finally grew enough.. I have always found the front line CS terrible.. I now just jump to the Facebook EO to do anything..
