I use Google Pay almost everywhere. Except gas stations. Have 5 cards loaded. People are like what did you just do? Paid my purchase. Oh thats cool. Im gonna look into it. LOL!!!!!!!! Google Pay protects your payment info with multiple layers of security, using one of the world’s most advanced security infrastructures to help keep your account safe. When you pay in stores, Google Pay doesn’t share your actual card number, so your information stays secure.
I cannot imagine going back to pre-digital wallet. If I go to store and they don't except Apple Pay (less than 10% of places in my city) I pretty much never go back unless they have something I cannot live without.
It is more secure and faster than using a card. And I don't have to worry about the "sock draw" and rotating cards in. All my cards are loaded.
Its also not new so I'm not concerned about being in some kind of beta. (Apple pay has been around for 5 years. Both Google Pay (formally android Pay) and Samsung Pay have been around for 4 years).
It get most of my gas at Costo and they just added "tap to pay". I could see this theoretically being faster than a digital wallet but with out the added security.
I would like to see "digital only" line at store. I alwasy get stuck behind cash payers and the occasional check writer.
I use Samsung Pay. I have about 10 cards loaded, including a supermarket loyalty card that I can "swipe" at the scanner. For gas i usually use the ExxonMobil Speedpass+ app, so no swiping there either.
The only times I use a physical card these days are places where a clerk has to take the card (restaurants and vet) and WholeFoods, where I use a debit card that isn't supported by Samsung Pay.
Samsung Pay is pretty close to eliminating the need for a card "in hand" if they have a magnetic strip reader. The MST and NFC ability of S Pay is unreal and highly effective. It has definitely gotten me on board with mobile pay.
I use Apple Pay for above mentioned reasons.
No digital wallet for me. I like technology, but I expect it to make things faster & easier. I have an LG G5, so no Apple or Samsung Pay for me. I tried Android Pay before it became Google Pay, and found out quickly that it requires you lock your phone with a PIN. I am not going to enter a PIN to check my email, text, weather, etc. 20+ times a day just to be able to pay with my phone 2-3 times a week.
I've used Walmart Pay on their app a few times, works great and at most it asks for a PIN only when you're using it. But even then I had a non-rewards Visa in my Walmart account to toss it a few swipes on Vudu, and the first time I used Walmart Pay it charged it to that card instead of Walmart. So now I keep only Walmart as a payment card in my account, but the only time I use Walmart Pay is when they have a 3% rewards promo, and that's been quite awhile now. And I did a Wells Fargo pay onetime when they had a $10 promo, that's the smarter wayh to do it, you only need to enter a PIN when you open the app. But if you require me to lock my entire phone to use a digital wallet, forget it.
ON the other hand I do love contactless cards, much faster & easier than a PIN card, and IMHO faster & easier than pulling out your phone and unlocking the dang thing.
@Anonymousnow "I alwasy get stuck behind cash payers and the occasional check writer." Remember, most of these folks will be passing (as in deceased) in the near future and you should not run into as many. I am older (share your same sentiments) and will add they wait until they get to the cash register and dig for their checkbook and coupons while 20 of us line up behind them.

Samsung pay for the win. I use it pretty much every where so fast and convenient without having to carry so many cards. Also love their new rewards feature. At a lot of places I'm able to get between 2%-20% back on top of my regualar % using a specific card. I've already racked over 200 in cashback just off that feature alone.
