Ending most depository accounts with PenFed

SMDH these people cannot move money like banks and my main cu can, they sent money through ACH yesterday morning to my main bank and it failed to show this morning. i never have a problem moving money with my main CU and banks, always there the next morning. Will be closing out all deposit accounts and leave them with 5 bucks just to maintain the membership.

Yes, usually 3 business day journey for me.

Sorry to hear about the posting delays.  I've yet to experience any timing or delay issues with moving $$ to/from PenFed to other institutions, including a few CUs (2 of them still function like old school).

Re: Ending most depository accounts with PenFed

I recently checked my rate for a personal loan. They make a big deal about how it won't affect your credit score etc. So I checked, and despite stellar credit and two past paid in full loans, they offered 7.49% So I just moved on (and true to their word, no HP for checking the rate).

Emails, voice mails "regarding your application" were left. I answered one of the calls....one of the most unprofessional representatives wanted to reach out to me about my application. I said, I did not apply "oh, you didn't?" And then I asked about whom actually qualifies for the lower rates because surely I should have....crickets.

They are not the same PenFed I joined many years ago and it is not just because NFCU has spoiled me. PenFed has just gone downhill.

Sorry, I don't want this to turn into a PenFed bashing thread but I wanted to add my recent experience with them.

Re: Ending most depository accounts with PenFed

Since they got their national charter Penfed is pretty fast for me. If entered in the morning a pull to Penfed is almost always next day, a push is usually next day. 2 days at most.

And yeah  I checked my rate on a personal loan last year and kept getting emails & calls about my "application"; I just replied that I didn't "apply" for anything, just checking rates, which were too high for me.

Really?  7.49% on a personal unsecured loan sucks?

Just wait till people see the rates in a few years everyone will be fantasizing about a rate that low.

Re: Ending most depository accounts with PenFed

You can do the ACH Push / Pull with PENFED

Alliant is another good one for that

Penfed If you have their checking/access america like most banks comes with bill pay.  The bill pay you can add yourself as a payee - and do direct deposit.  1-3 days depending on where you are sending it.   I always "Test" the first one with a dollar just to get things going... then thereafter its faster.

All Negatives History Removed as of October 2025 - Only BK CH7 Showing as Public Record

Total Reported Revolving CL: $162,450 + 26K PLOC = $188,450

By historical standards sure, 7.49% isn't bad at all. But if I need a cash infusion I have a couple offers for a 3% fee, 12 months 0% on CCs. So yeah, 7.49% doesn't appeal to me at all.

I don't understand how to do this.  When I add myself, it looks like they are going to send me a check???  Is there somewhere else where you can add banking info?

Thanks.
