Can someone please explain how everyone got into NF online? Ive tried to do it online...it tells me to call or doesnt allow me to join since my family member isnt a NF account holder. My grandfather (deceased) and my dad (cant ask) were members of the military. Im in the process of trying to request my grandfathers DD214 but it might take sometime. Is there another way to get an account w/o having to call?
I joined on the phone. It was a really smooth process, only took about 20 min or so.
Normally you don't need the DD214 at time of joining, but it is suggested to get it in case Navy asks in the future.
The main things I remember them asking for on the phone were:
1. Branch of service
2. Discharge type (medical/honorable
3.DOB for grandfather
A few other things were asked but it was just general information.
You have to call
@Anonymous, I suggest calling them!
Talk to a real person anytime. Our stateside member reps are available 24/7.

I didn't join online either... I just walked in the front door.
If you have a branch near you, you might be more comfortable with that option... I was.
Good luck!
I tried to apply online, but for some reason I was having problems. I also had to call,come to think of it, my sister had problems online, and had to call. Very interesting 🤔
Just call it's a simple process. Most if I recall had to call in myself included .
I called yesterday, very easy process they asked a few questions and I got an instant approval,no documents needed. spent alot of time chasing my Grandfathers info only to not need it. CSR was great.

Welcome to NFCU!
@Anonymous
When I called Navy to inquire as to exactly what I needed in order to apply for membership and was given the info, the CSR made a point of also telling me that, when I was ready to submit an application, I had to call back. I'm sure there's a good reason why this is, especially considering that I've read about instances where those who attempted to apply online hit a snag. When I made the call on the 15th of July, the only thing I had to provide in addition to my personal info was my dad's branch of service.
