Re: How many banking institutions do you belong to?

yea my current ones are :

Chase (primary)

NFCU (cc, checking and savings but like nothing in them)

USAA (cc, checking and savings but nothing in them)

Want to join Penfed for possible cc etc .

I plan on changing my primary bank from chase to nfcu in the future .. just using chase for cash deposits.

Anyone know if there is an easy way to close a USAA savings account ? I want to just keep a checking but i cant find out how to cancel besides to call.

Re: How many banking institutions do you belong to?

I belong to four credit unions and have cards/accounts with two.

Penfed: Rewards, Promise

NASA: Rewards, Savings account

SDFCU: membership

RBFCU: membership

I bank at Bank of America and have credit cards and my car loan with them.

When I leave the garden I plan on joining and doing business with at least two more credit unions.

Re: How many banking institutions do you belong to?

Good question and I actually really had to think about it.

Personal Banking Relationship

Grand Bank - Checking and my main account

Bank of America - Checking and my secondary account

BBVA - Checking and rarely ever use this account for much

American Airlnes Credit Union - Savings

Key Bank - Savings account in Cleveland OH (I live in Texas)

Business Relationship

Capital One - 4 Checking accounts and 1 savings account between 3 businesses ***

Grand Bank - 1 secondary checking account

*** - Will probably be moving these business accounts from Capital One to Bank of American within the next few months.

Re: How many banking institutions do you belong to?

I currently have (in order of length of time account has been opened):

Primary Checking account with big bank from previous location (not going to say which to protect identity)

Primary Savings from Ally

Local Checking from big bank in current location (again, won't say which bank)

Rewards Checking with Lake Michigan Credit Union

My plan is to close current primary checking and transfer to LMCU, which will become primary checking

Re: How many banking institutions do you belong to?

For just checking/savings accounts I belong to 3:

Chalres Schwab Investor Checking (mostly for the no ATM fees worldwide)

Commerce Bank where I have 1 checking and 2 savings accounts

Ally Bank with my MMA.

I have considered more savings accounts, but with my current focus on debt management I don't have the extra money to set aside beyond what I'm already doing.

The only time having too many bank accounts would be a problem in my opinion is if you completely forgot about it and left money in some random account somewhere. As long as you can keep track of it then you would probably be fine.
