REVISED (planning for large purchase, need advice)

Sorry for the deleted post...I think I figured out what the BLUF question actually is. Smiley Happy

I'm planning a large purchase that will be somewhere between $25-50K within the next year. It's a horse trailer with living quarters, so will qualify as an RV for financing purposes. Can consider new or used, it will depend on how the trailer is equipped: if new it will be ordered to my exact specs, if used I will likely need to add a few things to it.

What's the best option for financing this:  a personal loan, an RV loan, or a personal line of credit?  Note that a used living quarters horse trailer often doesn't have an actual NADA blue book value.  I'd like to be able to move on it in a hurry if the right one comes along.  Can finance through USAA for a personal loan or RV loan and be approved and funded within a matter of hours, but one dealership I'm looking at is about a 600-mile drive, so if going there I'd rather have financing already in place (hence considering LOC rather than a loan, but my bank doesn't do LOC other than HELOC, which I don't want to do).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: REVISED (planning for large purchase, need advice)

Hello, and thanks for any insight.

Monthly income $5200 after taxes.   I'm not renting, have a mortgage which is paid biweekly and a month ahead.

Current scores 791-782-787.    No baddies....had a 30-day late about 3 years ago on the mortgage due to a screw-up with autopay.

I don't understand why you don't just go ahead with getting an approval for an RV loan from USAA or a credit union. Your interest rate on a secured loan will be lower than it would be on a PLOC; it's easier to get a secured loan than a PLOC; and any PLOC you can get will wind up overutilized as soon as you buy the trailer.
