Re: Redstone FCU

Sorry to hear that @Anonymous !😞

Sounds like they dropped the ball!

Sister joined and approved for auto loan last week.

Wish I still had the lady's number that's head of the fraud department.

I'd forward it to you.

@Anonymous

Check your PMs. I sent the contact phone number I had for her.

So...I called your # after leaving a message at the one I was given yesterday and got no response.  That lady (Valerie?  I think she said her name was?  Honestly don't remember.) instantly transferred me to the regular banking customer service.  30 minutes of being on hold, someone answers and jist of the conversation went...

  • They weren't familiar with the initial email address I said I was emailed from and told to email documents to.
  • My account was and actually is CLOSED due to fraud reasons and wasn't on hold.  Couldn't explain why they were still holding on to my funds if they closed it.
  • Let him see what he can do to get the fraud lift released (I thought it was CLOSED?)
  • To get it lifted, send the requested documents into that email address he said wasn't valid, but now is and with in 3-5 business days they would get back to me.  I emailed them already over a month ago and to another email address someone else advised me to.
  • To close my account, I have to send in written request to do so.  Yeaaaah!  See that going over well, even sent certified and proof that they received it.  Probably get told that some girl scout selling cookies that day, signed for it and ran off with the letter.

ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!  CS agents are friendly enough, for the most part (first lady I got that more/less called me a liar), but absolutely the most incompetent banking institution I've had the DIS-pleasure of dealing with.  Almost willing to go through the effort to get it open, just so I can transfer my money out and let the account rot.  At this point, I just want my money back.  Robot Sad

Re: Redstone FCU

Dang!!! That sucks! Send a complaint to the BBB for that area.

That will get their attention!

Sorry this happened to you. I know EXACTLY how it feels!

Re: Redstone FCU

Final Update.

I opted to try to get it open, figuring it'd be easier than messing with certified letters and what reasoning they'd come up with on why/how they never received it.  So I sent the requested documentation again on Tuesday morning and actually got a confirmation/receipt of the email.  Figured that was a good sign as I didn't the first time.  No sort of response from them, so I decided to call in today.

I explained everything, including that on Tuesday I had requested to close the account, but was told it could not be done over the phone and I had to send in written request.  She told me it looked like they had closed it per my request, but then changed to it looked like it may have just been on hold still, to it was closed shortly after I opened it, to just on hold still, to let her find out what phase they were in, because it didn't look officially closed, but wasn't necessarily still open.  Put me on hold and came back and told me that they went ahead and closed it yesterday and sent the funds back because they could not verify me via my documentation, something to do with my address.

Then, instead of refunding the funds back to the account that funded it, they sent a check to said unverifiable address, which she confirmed with me was my correct address to make sure the check was going to the right place.  Wrap your head around that one.  I mean, I understand that if they mailed the check, they would have to mail it some place and the address on my DL and that I said was it, seems logical.  But for them to deny the membership because they couldn't verify my address, but then mailed the check to said address, seems idiotic to me.  Robot LOL

Really feel like I dodged a bullet here and as soon as I actually have said check in my hands and it actually clears, I'll be a happy camper.

Congrats OP!

I tried to get into RedStone and they wanted me to do everything by mail with a notary.

I applied for RK instead and was DECLINED.  Nope, not even $1000 SL.

I was shocked.

Decided to give PenFed a shot ... BAM!  $20k with SP.

See ya later RedStone.

With a SP? Wow. Impressive Smiley Happy I didn't think PenFed SP anything.

Re: Redstone FCU

@ChazzieT what other credit unions can you join with landtrustnal membership?

Trying to figure out which good CUs I should get into soon. Was going over America consumers council and saw RBFCU doesn't accept them anymore. So don't want to miss out on good ones
