I can confirm that Ideal CU works for the SSL technique. I know this is only an option now for people that live in their service area.
so, no options that allow SSL with prepayment other than NFCU (not eligible) and Ideal (not part of their service area, don't want to go through the hassle of calling, sending documents, etc.)?
Not an SSL, but I believe Alliant's unsecured loan works?

That is correct. So far the quest for an Alliant SSL replacement has found nothing.
for Alliant unsecured but you need to have a HP and half decent credit right?

That's right. I think the issue of the HP is an excessive worry, though it is a common one. HPs have little impact and they vanish after 1 year.
do you need proof of income for alliant unsecured?
**bleep** does anyone have the answer
I do not know. A loan officer at Alliant would know. You could call and ask.
I googled this just now: do you need proof of income for an unsecured loan
which produced these search results:
You'll see this article toward the top, which suggests that proof of income is common but exactly what form that takes varies.
from what i was told, the answer is "depends" and you need 6 months as a member of Alliant before you're eligible for an unsecured personal loan.
