Applied for a Wells Fargo checking account. Got a message that they're verifying information and would send me an email with the decision. Is this standard procedure? I've never had an account with them before and Chexsystems is clean.
I wouldn't worry! Banks and CU are being more diligent on verification. I'm sure your email will follow shortly. Good luck!!! 👍🏻
It could just be something that triggered a need for a manual review to verify identity. I wouldn't panic, just wait and see what they say. Banks are getting much more strict about verifying identity.

Guessing "Pending" ID verification.
I'm just waiting for them to bring back the $400 checking promo.

I don't blame you.
They are changing the requirements to waive the monthly fee on Everyday Checking (down to $500 mininum daily balance, can't qualify via debit transactions) early next month so it's anyone's guess as to what and when their promos will recycle.

I'm just wondering how long until they post the bonus to my account! I got in right towards the end of the last round (they ended it online and I was having issues getting it submitted so went to the branch and got in), did a transfer from BoA (which works per DoC comments) to meet the min requirements, and now have recurring DDs going as well. Unfortunately (for me, not most people) they extended the qualification period to the end of the year so I'm stuck wondering if I'll get the bonus sooner or sometime in January instead.
For OP, when I opened my account in branch, the rep said I would have had to come in for ID verification anyway so hopefully it's just something that simple for you.

Even though WF extended the qualification period I've been following it on DoC & Reddit and once you meet the $4k in "direct deposits" the bonus has been posting right at 90 days after account opening. As for what WF considers a DD, once your electronic deposit has moved from pending to Posted you can click to see how they classify it. I've done ACH deposits Marcus, HSBC & a credit union and they've all coded as 'direct deposit". I just made my last deposit last week putting me over $4k, I opened the account in the first week of July so I'll be looking for my bonus first week of October. And yeah, WF was sneaky, the offer was good to July 31 but they pulled it off online in mid July, you had to open in branch to get it, I haven't been inside any bank branch since March.
