What would these banks be using to verify identity?

Chase, US Bank, and Bank of America are saying that they can't verify my identity so they can't process my application. At US Bank, I only applied for a personal savings account, hoping that would get me in. At BofA, I applied for a business checking with aged LLC. At Chase, I applied for a personal cobranded cc which showed I was prequalified for.

I burned each about 14 years ago on credit cards. Are they just saying it's a identity problem because of that from long ago? Back about 12 years ago I had an identity theft notice on EX and at least one of the other major bureaus. I think it was no longer there after about 2 years or less.

I had a Chase checking that I opened about 13 years ago but closed last year, which now I regret closing.

LexisNexis agent said that upon double checking, my LexisNexis and SageStream reports are not frozen. Back when I got these letters from these banks, I just assumed it was LexisNexis and SageStream being frozen. I don't know what to think now. What might they be using... Innovis? EWS? I think I have a frozen Innovis and maybe one other uncommon report. My Chexsystems is not frozen because I got approved for checking accounts at smaller places that definitely pull Chex.

I do AZEO.

It seems to me that this identity thing only comes up with online applications. So if you go into a branch you might not have the problem.

And if you get turned down for a checking account, you're entitled to a letter telling you the reason why and identifying the bureau they pulled.

All three pull ews.  If you burned🔥them in the past, that seems a likely reason as well.  I think I'd stick to banks I haven't 🔥ed.

Thank you. I will try in person.

Yeah, I got letters but I assumed that the bureaus were just SageStream or LexisNexis. So I didn't pay enough attention. Now I've misplaced the letters, and I'm not sure. I think they said Chex, SS, or LN which bothers me because those are not frozen.

I hope in person will solve the whole problem.

I've focused on banks I haven't burned, but now I need these for the rewards if I can get them. I feel like they couldn't put "unable to verify identity" as the reason if that's not the actual reason? Wouldn't that go against consumer rights to know. They should not have any hesitation saying the real reason if it is because of "unsatisfactory prior relationship".

Also even if they pull EWS, they shouldn't be telling me "unable to verify identity", they should be saying something about "too many bank accounts opened recently". So I don't think that EWS is the cause.

Re: What would these banks be using to verify identity?

Sounds familiar to me. US Bank for over 12 years would not let me use online or telephone for new accounts (had to go into branch). Finally, I went in to a US Bank Branch this last summer 2023. Took a Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, Pass Port, Utility Bill and a Property Tax Statement from my residential dwelling unit and oh yeah, a picture ID Driver's License. The US Bank Agent said she thought she could get to the bottom. Note, never burned US Bank or was even a customer before my first account.

The agent took some time and had to get ALL my documents verified and US Bank entered what was needed into their system. Today, I can now use telephone and online with them. Whole thing was unreal. Since I had no past with them why the problem???

What to say? Early Warning Systems and Chex Systems can be a challenge (reviewed mine and not even a scoreable entry "00" on Chex). Early Warning has every breath I took with USAA, Chase, US Bank, Discover to mention but a few.

If I was a hacker ... the Early Warning System had more information on me than any source since Equifax who used to deal in "hearsay" information back in the day (not today).

I've been turned down "based on info from chex..." They didn't specify. I now it's because I've opened lol/ 12 new accounts. I just did usb , didn't seem to bother them.

Re: What would these banks be using to verify identity?

My Chex and EWS reports don't have anything unusual on them. A lot of open checking accounts and inquiries, but not that many in the past 12-20 months. So the banks are denying me for some other reason?

I haven't gone in person yet. I will bring documents.

Re: What would these banks be using to verify identity?

My past had me with a bank for twelve years and they were never involved with me in any way (that I was aware of) and still could not get any products without going into a branch.

As some of us know, going to a brick and motar location may not be convenient. Can not explain why I was blocked? Especially since I had had no relationship with the financial. Did check all CBs, LexisNexis, Sagestream, Chex Systems, Early Warning and even the telephone/internet CB. Nothing???

To this day I have no idea?
