Does anyone have similar experience to this when the bank system says that it is unable to send it to your number?
I know Microcenter refused my cricket prepaid number back when I bought a computer, so I imagine it's something that can happen
it is a pre-paid mvno right? cricket/boost/mint/straight talk and not some VOIP google voice number?
I believe @UncleB may have experience with this.

Yeah, I use AT&T Prepaid, but so far none of the banks I use have ever had an issue with it. For a couple of years I ported over to Verizon Prepaid (before coming back to AT&T) and other than getting messages right after the port asking me to reconfirm my mobile number from a few banks (Chase was one) everything was OK there as well.
There are a lot of people here on the forums who don't have a postpaid account with one of the 'big three' and most have no issues. One thing that is known to be problematic is when a Google Voice number is used. While Google Voice numbers are (generally) able to get SMS text messages, they are classified as landline numbers so some banks won't allow them to be used for 2FA.
@Emmatree wrote:I wanted some advice, I have prepaid and i have issues getting verification codes with some creditors and some creditors i have no issues at all. I was on the phone today with one of my creditors and for some reason, they couldnt send the text through to my number even though its been no issue in the past. They used the term "Innovis You" which I googled and it has nothing to do with Innovis the consumer report but a "failsafe text verification" which google says Detects when a passcode is being sent to a phone listed as a pre-paid account by the carrier. Which i'm thinking is why i'm running into issues sometimes with receving a code when on the phone with a creditor and they want the verbal code..
Hi @Emmatree, and welcome to myFICO!
If you'll tell us which creditor(s) you're having 2FA issues with we'll be able to give you better info. Also sharing what prepaid mobile provider you're using could be helpful.
Just things ive noticed, especially citibank when the account gets blocked and needing to wait for a code in the mail.
I use cricket and have problems with Wells Fargo and Capital One.
Wells Fargo will only send codes to my joint account holders phone for 2fa
Captial one I tried to use my number with them and they didn't accept it. Again I used her number And she's not even listed as an AU So I think they just cross reference the billing address with the phone provider. We have different last names and she has no affiliation with my cap1 cards other than living with me
I use metro pcs, only had a problem once. The bank thought they were sending it, but I didn't receive it. After reviewing a lot of web pages on their site, I found they had the wrong number. It was my current 7 digit number, preceded by the area code of a previous number. It took several call s to finally straighten it out.

Never had any problems with metro. 2fa worked with no problems.
wish I hadn't switched to cricket.
The service was much better.
2fa worked.
& I got a free Amazon prime subscription with my plan.
They just wanted so much more for the same phones as cricket.
My problem wasn't with metro, fidelity was sending to wrong number. Lucky it was fidelity, they fixed it over the phone. I like metro ok too.
