AMEX

American Express sent me a settlement offer for a CC I had with them.  THe amount due is $2100 and they are offering $1100 (I don't have it RIGHT NOW).  They also stated that it would be marked as settled and they will not attempt to collect on the remainder (I don't beleive them) OR I can set up a payment plan until the bill is paid and they MAY re-open the account.  These are the same people that lowered my CL from $3000 to $1500 AFTER I sent in a $1500 payment.  At that time I was NEVER late.

My question, what do anyone suggest I do with AMEX?

Re: AMEX

Set up a payment plan with them - they want to work with you. Don't feel bad about them lowering your CL - they're doing that with a lot of their cardholders.

Re: AMEX

Will call them today.  Another question, I always here not to give you bank account informaiton, is this still correct in this circumstance?  I would prefer to send payment to them myself, possibly through bill pay with my bank or by certified checks.
