I lost my job in June making 55k a year, and now i make 36k a year.
Before you go this route, call TakeCharge America and speak to a specialist. My payments were greatly reduced and the interest was brought down to 0-6%. This was about seven years ago that I paid them off, but my experience was very positive. Don't ruin your credit. They will eventually sue for that amount.
your payment will, most likely, be around $600 for five years if all the creditors play nice, then there is a small monthly fee of about $25 for them to handle the payouts.
What about the debt relief companies?
I would call the credit card companies themselves and ask to be put on a debt management plan. I think it closes the accounts, but it will lower your interest rate and minimum payments. Doing somthing through a third party company will cost you more money because they will charge you a fee.
Is it possible for you to get a rommate?
It sucks to be in this position and I can certainly commiserate having been in a similar position before.
Here is some good advice for you! I burned PP Credit for almost $15,000, and their sister company billmelater for $21,000 on a newegg charge account. This was over 3 years ago. Never showed up on any credit reports and never heard another thing about it. If you're going to charge-off something ,do it with these guys.
PP came after my sister right before SOL ran out...for around $2,000.
Once the other cards see those negatives on PP.....they are going to start raising interest and slashing credit lines anyway. Might as well be proactive and start making phone calls.
I have heard two different things. Some people said they dont and others say they do report, so i might have to take my chances on that one. I am hoping I can get some type of increased income to pay over because we are going to be having a kid soon too.
Any other thoughts? I am having a hard time finding a second night job... so i need something to do in the presence, i might just have to let this account go until i can save up $5k to psy it off after it goes to collections.
