i had 2 CMRE accounts hits collections last week. (ER visits). i wasnt able to pay them. my income couldnt afford to them them and all the other medical bills i accumulated thru my surgery. with these two hitting my report, i scored went down to the 730's i was so close to 800 before 
my question regarding these collections accounts is ... WIll the Hipaa loophole work with CMRE? i would love to pay them and ask for a PFD but with my low income thats not going to happen ($4000 owed)
should i write a letter asking them to validate my debt?
The HIPAA process cannot be discussed in detail on the forums per WhyChats request. In your case it may be better to work out something with the OC or CA. I will give you the normal order in handling these types of collections. As far as DV it is your right to request it but if you already know its yours it could put them into a position of not wanting to work with you on getting it paid and removed from your CR.
For unpaid medical debt that is reporting on your CR:
1. Call the OC and see if insurance can be billed, if not then
2. see if you qualify for Charity Care, if not then
3. ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
4. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
5. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help
I had 2 collections from CMRE, but I already paid them in full. I'm scared to call and ask for PFD because I have 3 other accounts with them that they're not reporting. I'm not going to go poking that bear...
Have you tried asking the hospital for charity? You can fill out a form, and based on your income and bills, etc. you might qualify for the hospital to help pay for some/all of your bills. My boyfriend did it for Whittier Hospital and they paid every last cent. He recently had to go to the hospital without insurance and is waiting on the outcome of his application again. I would definitely call the hospital and ask about the charity application. You said you had low income, so you probably have a good shot.
My bills are from 2013, and apparently I owe $18,000 for one account, and about $1,000 each for 2 other accounts. I talked to the main financial lady at the hospital and she said I could fill out the charity application still (even though CMRE was handling these collections) and write a letter detailing all the things I need to pay like my rent, car, credit cards, etc. and she would see what she could do. These bills are from 2013 and they're still willing to work with me. So please give them a call!
