Capital One Collection Help.

I have recently received my capital one secured credit card for $200.00. I currenlty have a capital one credit card in collections from Portfolio Recovery A of $1,592 date assigned 2013. Will this hurt my chances on trying to get the capital one unsecured platinum card? Also should i try to pay the collections card off? I got this card back in 2009.

Thank you.

Re: Capital One Collection Help.

I would logically presume that having an unpaid, delinquent debt with a creditor would affect their willingness to grant new credit.

Paying would remove it as an unpaid, delinquent debt.....

1 year after CO it typically what you need. I had a fairly large CO with them that also went into a judgement and they gave me both the QS1 & Platinum cards with $500 limits.

Re: Capital One Collection Help.

Ok that's good to hear. Just wanted to see of it was even worth paying off since it is a few years old.

Re: Capital One Collection Help.

Skybuilder, did your CO with Capital One ever get to the point where you ended up receiving a 1099-C for the cancellation of debt and tax purposes?

No I didn't and it never was sold or transfered to an outside CA either.

Re: Capital One Collection Help.

Does anyone know if Capital One will take back from collections if you pay?  I absolutely refuse to deal with Portfolio Recovery.

Re: Capital One Collection Help.

If the debt collector has already reported, then they alone have the ability to directly agree to delete their reporting.

Absolute refusal to deal with them by not making a PFD offer willingly removes your ability to pursue that option......

Re: Capital One Collection Help.

It's Portfolio.  We all know PFD isn't happening.  They are the absolute bottom feeders of debt collectors.
