Whew, man does that feel good. I called to close my Credit One card today that I've had for about 10 months. I haven't charged anything on it in 3 months. I finally have some great cards with Cap1(tho, bucketed), Disco, Amex, and Chase so it was due to get rid of this trash. I can now just watch the seeds grow.
they tried to offer me a Cli, some sort of credit to the account, and something else I had such a hard time understanding them. But I stuck to my guns said no please close 4 or 5 times and got it closed! I was prepared for this after reading other posts. I also asked for a letter confirming account closure.
It's a great feeling to no longer have a predatory sub prime card and to have moved up so quickly and gained a lot of knowledge in my rebuild. It's only up from here! I'm beyond thankful for this forum.

Congrats! Closing rebuilder cards once we've moved past feels so good. I keep hearing that Credit One tries to make it so difficult to close. Onward and upward for you!

@Jeffster1 they do make it hard. I could see how people fall into that trap. It's almost awkward they just keep asking.. felt like I was dealing with a collection agency 🤣

It's like trying to leave a Timeshare presentation. I've never had any trouble saying no, but I realize that most people are nicer than I am. 🤣 I never had one but I've heard stories. It's also a good idea to keep an eye on the closed account to make sure they don't try to pull a fast one.
🤣 I try and be nice and friendly as possible but also have no trouble speaking my mind or getting what's need to be done, done.
And yeah thanks for reminder. I just checked my account and it does show as closed, and I asked for a letter confirming closure but I'll keep an eye on the account for the next month or so.
Congrats such a good feeling - ive been trying to close my merrick card but they keep telling me they have to transfer my call and then they putt me on these hour long hold and no one ever comes back on the line smh .... this goes to show how these subprime cards are shady shady

Really? I believe it.. that would really irritate me. Have you thought about sending in a certified letter to close your account and share your unsatisfactory experience?
