Collection

Is it possible to have 2 separate Collection agencies for the same debt. I have an Allied collection reporting on my CR'S from February and a company called virtuoso sending me collection letters for the same sprint bill.

Re: Collection

Yep sure is... But techinically only one should have "ownership" of the debt at a time....

BTW Virtuoso is a PITA...  You might have better luck dealing with Alliant....

You should have BOTH agencies verify the debt.....

Should be able to find out who has the right to collect it this way...

Re: Collection

They both can not report for the same debt. Only one can report.

While it is not LEGALLY prohibited for multiple collectors to report the same debt, it IS contrary to CRA policy. If Virtuoso is also reporting the same collection, then you can dispute the Allied report with the comment that "collector does not have current collection authority for this debt"
