Credit Card Reporting Questions

We have been working to rebuild our credit so we can purchase a home and finally have our scores where they need to be.  I noticed as I am reviewing my reports on myfico that in my TU, I have a credit card that was closed in 2009 and paid off but is still reporting as of this month that I am 120 day past due.  How is it possible that it can still report like that if it was closed in 2009?  How can I have that removed or are they legally able to do that?  Is it really something that is affecting my fico score?  It is showing as a negative.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: Credit Card Reporting Questions

Delinquencies reported on an account are not deleted when the account is paid.

The current status is no longer one of delinquency, but the delinquency is retained under other codes.

If the current status shows delinquent, that is inaccurate.  It should show paid and closed.

Your CR, however, retains the deliquency level prior to bringing the account back into good standing, open or closed, under the Payment Rating code.
