Equifax reporting question

I recently received a GW removal on one of my accounts and while it was removed and updated almost immediately from EX and TU (and received HUGE score increases) it is still reporting as a negative through EQ. I know they're slow to report but it's been close to a month now. What's the best way to get it updated? I would hate to dispute and get a drop in score but I'm not sure what the best route is.

Thoughts?

Re: Equifax reporting question

If it  was a good-will deletion, then the CRA will only delete after receiving a reported deletion from the furnisher of the information.

The furnisher may not as of yet reported to each CRA.

They may only be reporting the deletion by way of inclusion in their normal monthly reporting update of all accounts, so a month delay is not unreasonable.

Since GW deletions are voluntary, there is no inaccuracy in its current reporting, and thus I would not pursue by way of dispute.

Any dispute will be referred back to the furnisher, who may then view a dispute negatively, and decide not to then report any deletion.

I would recommend a bit more patience.

Agree. Wait it out a bit longer before taking any action. There just could have been a delay in the info being sent to them, or even a delay in EQ updating.

Re: Equifax reporting question

So it's been almost another month and this is still showing on my credit report with EQ. How should I proceed? Just call and see or file a dispute online?

Do NOT file a dispute, or call the CRA. Work with the CA or OC that granted the GW deletion - contact the specific person that granted/authorized it..

Re: Equifax reporting question

Thanks Norman! Unfortunately I don't have a number for the woman at Wells Fargo who assisted me but I did just shoot her a quick email.

If I don't get in touch with her should I just call Wells Fargo directly? I'm afraid to get someone else looking at it and for it to show back up on my report. This was a HUGE win in getting the late removed and I'm terrified to screw it up.

Re: Equifax reporting question

If you do contact them, I highly recommend that you dont simply call their first-line reps, but rather contact someone in upper-management.

Many companies have standard no-deletion policies passed down to their first-line employees in order to show compliance with the standard policy of the CRAs that information not be deleted based on having satisfied the debt.

You will likely have a better chance in their assistance if you are dealing with one who has discretion to grant exceptions.

Re: Equifax reporting question

This was actually a GW removal of a 30-day late for an open mortgage through WF. I did hear back from the lady who helped me and she said that EQ has until 8/20 to update the report. If it's not updated by then I can reach back out and they will send an additional letter. I'm completely satisfied with this reponse, however I noticed today that on my EQ report (updated as of today) that they haven't updated my Wells Fargo account since April. Why wouldn't they update it monthly like they used to do and like they do for all of my accounts?
