I just received my credit report here on myfico. Equifax has 4 accounts listed from different accounts which have a much longer history. They reported my history is only 19 months. The equifax report actually lists the following accounts.
October 2015 Equifax report states earliest account was opened 12 years ago!
My auto account was open 43 months with Capitol One. I refinanced it with Aspire credit union and have paid on that accout since July 2015.
I want to know how to correct this. I want to send them a dispute with mail because I don't think they will address it online dispute. I have had that happen in the past. I need advice about how to go about this. I also had credit for an apartment I rented in 2009 but it wasn't reported on this credit report. It is my oldest account. Equifax is my lowest score and the hardest one to raise. Any advice much appreciated.

Apartments rentals do not get reported to your credit.
The age of the account is calculated, in scoring, based on the reported Open date of the account.
Apparently, the creditor is reporting an inaccurate Opened date for their account?
If so, you have the option either of filing a diredt dispute with the creditor, bypassing the CRA,, or of filing your dispute with the CRA, who must then forward a copy to the creditor for their investigation. Your option.
A party who has reported information to a CRA assumes responsibility for its current accuracy, but can delete all reporting at any time, thus removing any credit reporting obligation to maintain or correct anything. Thus, disputes can lead to loss of accounts as well as their correction.
As for "credit for an apartment," or any other accounts, reporting by a creditor or businsess is totally voluntary.
Most apartments only report when derogs occur, and dont assume regular monthly reporting. Many do not maintain credit reporting agreements with the CRAs.
If they choose not to report, or to delete any prior reporting, there is no provision for a consumer to have the information reported.
Completeness of credit reports is a goal of the CRAs, but is often not attained.
Thanks! I actually saw that Equifax reported a history of 12 years on my credit report they issued in October 2015. Now they listed a credit history of only 19 months issued here on 04/2016. Wouldn't that be a basis for a dispute? They reported it themselves. Crazy lol
The disputable issue would be the accuracy of a reported Open date.
If a furnisher is providing inaccurate information, you can dispute its accuracy.
From that point, the calculation of the age of an account is not information furnished to a CRA, it is information that is calculated based on furnished information,
Credit scoring matters are not disputable under the FCRA. You have an issue of how your scoring is being calculaed that you must take up with the party who is selling you their scoring assessment.
Thank you. I contacted the furnisher to see if they will provide Equifax with the correct open date.
