Goodwill Letter Success?

Has anyone had goodwill success with Fingerhut, Commenity/VS, or Santander?

I have paid colections on all three and in my first round of GW letters, I did not make it very far with the three noted above. I paid them between 2018 and 2019, and paid the companies directly (not 3rd party credit agency).

If anyone has had success with any of them, can you share your experience and/or contact information where you sent your letters?

Re: Goodwill Letter Success?

To clarify, is it collections you have showing, or simply charge offs with each?

I have had success with Comenity/Victoria Secret.

I ended up getting a new card with them and used that for leverage for goodwills. I never got a response, however, the tradelines came off my credit.

Re: Goodwill Letter Success?

I am one of the "rare" few that had success with a goodwill letter to Santander my first go around with credit repair about 7-8 years ago.  I remember sending it to a P.O. box, don't know if it went to customer service/or Santander presidential complaint department.

First, I would say find out if your loan with them is part of the huge Santander Settlement that is multi state large---here is the link:

https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/Update-Santander-Deleted-550-Million-Settlem...

there are parts of the lawsuit above if applicable to your loan/claim of monies, and/or removal of tradeline, and/or title to vehicle etc...read up on it.

On any account you have to consider the statute of limitation/time frame if you are still in the window where they can sue you.

If you are ok/in the clear with the line above, then give the goodwill letter a try.  Mine was probably one of those lucky long shots; but, it worked for me back then.

Good Luck to you!!!!!!!

Re: Goodwill Letter Success?

Sorry for the late reply, I never recieved notifications for this particular post!

They are charge-off and/or settements. I paid Santander and Fingerhut for less than full. I paid Comentiy in full and have tried with them multiple times, including through their FB messenger.

How long after the old account closure did you get a new card? And what was the status of the old card, was it just late, or was it a charge-off type thing?

Goodwill update - Comenity and Great Lakes

Just wanted to give the community some information!

So, I have a c/o account with VS/Comenity from 2018 that I paid in full after charge off. After multiple goodwill letter attempt failures, I read somewhere on here to call their consumer affairs line (1-800-303-1368).

I managed to make my way up the chain a bit and spoke to a manager. She informed me they don't offer goodwill adjustments for c/o accounts (even if paid in full), the most they will adjust is no more than 2 straight late payments if you are trying to buy a home or other major purchase. Not good news for me, but hopefully for someone else!

For my Great Lakes student loan account, I read a while back that someone contacted them through their FB page and was successful. I reached out today and was given an email address to explain my situation. I immediately got a response from the person I spoke with on FB messenger asking for additional information. After verifying my identity and supplying the additional info, she said she was passing it up the chain to see if someone could help and I would receive a response within 3-5 days. So, a glimmer of hope there!
