Help! I need some reassurance

Been working on paying off my credit cards in order to buy a home before summer. My credit is good otherwise and some high cc debt had my score down in the mid 600s. They were finally up in the lower 700s but then this disaster struck. My mother had me as an authorized user on an old BofA card that she recently used for a balance transfer and nearly maxed out her card. It got reported to all the bureaus and dropped my score over 40 points. 😭

I immediately had myself removed as a user. But just how long will it take my score take to recover? My heart nearly stopped when I saw the score change and I really want to get a house before summer.

as soon as the account is removed from your reports, it should mostly/fully recover, depending on how much of an impact the AU with a low balance was having on your scores

Starting FICO 8:
Current FICO 8:

4/6, 4/12, 8/24 new accounts

Also you may want to work in AZEO boost couple of months before going for your mortgage!

Re: Help! I need some reassurance

Sometimes AU accounts don't automatically drop off, so you can also contact the CRAs to get it removed and your score should bounce back.

Good luck!

Re: Help! I need some reassurance

Keep in mind that you might not get all of that 40 points back, if getting that entry off of your report affects your average age of accounts, your utilization, etc.
