Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

@RobynJ nice. How was the process and how long did it take to have access to your accts? I'm contemplating opening a checking as well but I kinda want to keep my Bank of America checking acct active. I will think about it.

Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

I had access to my account as soon as I completed the application. It approved it immediately. I received a survey email from them today and filled it out. When I was complete it asked me what products I had interest in and said they would be contacting me shortly. We shall see how that goes lol.

@RobynJ sounds good. You got the premium savings acct with 0.70% interest? That's the one I'm going for. I don't really care to have atm access for a savings acct.

Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

Welp, there goes that. I was just denied a savings account with PenFed. I have no clue why? I just sent them an email asking for more information. Oh well...

Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

I just received a email response from a PenFed rep who told me I was denied because they couldn't verify my identity. Hopefully this is an easy fix. I will call them later today.

Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

I hope it all works out. Did you ever check your sagestream/Lexisnexis/checksys reports? If you have any bad checking/savings accounts in the past they are reported to these "Consumer Report Agency's" not to be confused with "Credit Report Agencies"

Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

@RobynJ I actually tried getting my chex report online back when I applied for the TD secured card but it says they can't prove my identity (I dont know what's going on with my identity lol) so I gotta try a different way of getting my report. However I highly doubt anything is on it.

PenFed just sent me a secure link to provide a photocopy of my drivers license and ss card. It seems very straightforward and hopefully they will move ahead with opening my account.

Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

Capital one just reported my card today, just now actually, on my EQ report. My EQ vantagescore dropped 20 pts as a result (644-624). I'm assuming TU and EX will follow within the next 2 days. My 2nd statement cycle ended this past Friday so it lines up with what @RobynJ stated about Capital One waiting until the 2nd statement end date to report your new card.

Re: How many accounts enough to build credit?

The vantagescore3.0 system is weird. My EQ score dropped 20 pts once the cap1 card was reported. Meanwhile my TU score just went up 63 pts today while having a CO listed on the report. So now my TU is 628 with a CO on file, and my EQ is 624 with a clean file.
