@MarkyB wrote:The vantagescore3.0 system is weird. My EQ score dropped 20 pts once the cap1 card was reported. Meanwhile my TU score just went up 63 pts today while having a CO listed on the report. So now my TU is 628 with a CO on file, and my EQ is 624 with a clean file.
Personally I wouldn't put any effort in worrying about the Vantage Score Algorithm. First it's really not used by any lenders but maybe a couple. I personally don't know of any that do. It's more so just an educational tool and a bad one at that (jmpo). If you want you probably have a Fico 9 score by now. I tried to get mine on this site but since I didn't have a Fico 8 score it wouldn't let me proceed. I went to credit .com and signed up and got what scores where available at that time. I got real tired playing the Faco score game with vantage.
@RobynJ oh trust me I put zero stock on those scores. I was monitoring them strictly for educational purposes but I can't even do that because it's so inconsistent. Once I have my fico scores I won't even log on to CK ever again.
BTW PenFed messaged me today and countered my premium savings app with a "restricted savings account". They said that's the only path to membership for me since my credit file is so new. I'm waiting on a response giving me more info on what that means exactly. I don't see anything on their site referring to a restricted acct.
@MarkyB Well that's a foot in the door either way. Once in get a SSL with them. I'm a member at both Penfed and Navy now and tbh I like Navy much better. It seems like anything you want to do with Penfed is a HP. Congratulations on getting in though as it's a step in the right direction. I look forward to seeing you progress with me. It's good to have someone at the same stage basically as me to grow and share about.
@MarkyB Was thinking about our posts and wanted to check in and see how the journey is going? Did Penfed work out for you?
Hey @RobynJ all is good, thank you! I went to Florida for a week, just got back last night. My vantage scores keep going up. My statement closes on my discover card tomorrow. It'll be my 3rd statement so I'm halfway to a fico score. I haven't moved on PenFed yet. I spoke to another rep who said the fact I have no fico score is causing their system to reject me. I decided to wait for my fico score and apply again which by then I should get in without any restrictions.
Ugh, I think I'm a victim of identity fraud. I just received a hard inquiry from "RentTrack Inc." on my transunion report. I have no clue who they are and it's 100% unauthorized. I'm waiting til I get off work to make some calls and see what's going on...
An update on the random hard inquiry. I made a new thread about it yesterday and it seems to have also happened to someone else. I had done some digging on RentTrack while I was at work and found out Self acquired them in February of this year. I instantly felt relieved that it might not be identity fraud after all. I emailed RentTrack and they replied with the message posted below. Self then emailed me a few hours later while I was asleep on their own behalf (I hadn't contacted them yet) which I also attached below.
I'm glad this wasn't fraud but it still has me thinking if this is even legal? Why does RentTrack have my social? I authorized only Self with my info, not any of their other companies they own. I'm definitely going to send Self an email.
So I reached out to Self this morning trying to figure out how RentTrack obtained my private info and this is the response I got. My original message is shown below and the top part is their response which is clearly a copy/paste generic reply. I gotta say, Self is really turning me off. I'm thinking about paying off my account with them and ending all ties asap. I don't trust them at this point. They seem shady.
@MarkyB @Hey I'm sorry to bug you again . So I never even received a email from self. Do you know the email that I need to send them a email to talk about this Inquiry? Or who do I contact?

OMG you must be kidding me, how in the heck do you mistakenly do a HP and why would TU do it on their behalf. Something doesn't add up for sure.
