Re: If I do a PFD with these parking tickets will it decrease my score

I don't see how PFD could hurt your score here.  You've got 5 long years of this being reported on your CR's if you don't PFD, versus the TL disappearing if you successfully PFD.  I would definitely try to PFD as long as you have the money to PIF.  I'm confused about where you heard that it could hurt your score... PFD isn't always the way to go, for sure, but for reasons other than your score being affected (mainly if you can't afford to PIF you're opening yourself up to being sued if they reject your PFD).  GL!

Haven't ever heard of a "dept release letter".  What does it say specifically?  Myself, I would want something that was VERY clear they are to delete upon receipt of the payment.

Another question....can you just go back to the Seattle Police Dept (assuming they issued the ticket/debt) and pay it directly to them?  If so, that would be paying the OC directly and force the CA to stop reporting on your credit.

And yes, be prepared to PIF especially if you are withing SOL as they could technically sue you.

More importantly....do you have warrants for your arrest?  Around here, unpaid tickets go before the judge and warrants are issued.  Not a good path to go down.

Since a parking tickets was never an extension of credit, PFDing these would only help your score.

Only when an account 1) is an extension of credit and/or 2) was "positive" at one point would removing it hurt your score. Since this was always a collection (per se), removing it via PFD can ONLY be a good thing!! This NEVER positively contributed toward your AAoA (Average Age of Accounts) ~ AKA known as Length of Credit History.

Hope this helps!!

I didnt get the tickets...it was my ex...long story.

Do you think i can still go to the traffic court & pay them. So if I pay them to the OC the CA cant report it?

Thanks

Yeesh. I sure am sorry to hear that (my ex did the same freaking thing to me eons ago ~ messy, messy break-up). Smiley Sad

To answer your question, I really don't know. Are you local to the court? If so, I'd try REALLY hard ~ show up in person and be the nicest person you can be ... flattery in small doses is always a plus. And if you're lucky enough to talk to someone who's also had a yucky break-up (and who on earth hasn't????!!!), use your tale of woe for all it's worth!!

What you want is for the OC to "pull" the account back from the CA. Ask (very nicely) if you can get some sort of paperwork that states that it is no longer the CA's account to collect. I wish I could be more specific, but back when it happened to me, I was very weak with the force and had no idea about PFDs and such (circa 1994).

Do you mind me asking who the CA is? Perhaps, if you share the who, someone else might have great contact info that you can use for leverage (CEOs often grant PFDs just to get you, a plebian, off their backs)!!

Sorry for hijacking OP but my fiance is going through the same thing and tried to pay his parking tickets off. They're so old that the parking authority doesn't even have record of them and he can't pay without record. It's still showing as a collection on his credit report. What should he do?

How old are they?

Regardless, send the CA and DV (Debt Validation) letter. If they can't verify, they can't report.
