Welcome @Anonymous
Congrats on paying down the debts. You can change your title to my rebuild story or whatever you like. You'll see some minor gains from the credit cards and charge offs being paid down to $0. They will no longer count against your agregate util %'s. With collections there wont be a high gain. It will look better to future creditors you paid your debt. But they will quit reporting monthly and will die a slow death and fall off. Once all the reductions in debt is reported on your reports the CO's and collections will reflect it but the biggest gains will come from when they all fall off your reports. You can see the fall off date on your credit file reports from each CRA. Good job!
Congrats on paying those items off.
Short version, paying off a charge-off probably will not increase your score immediately. It could even lower your score. The reason is that derogatory item is still there, and when the balance is updated, it will update again on your credit report. Derogatory items hurt your score when they report, so if you have items that haven't reported for a while, that could result in a small drop in your score for that reason.
You would think paying off a debt should raise your score, but in the short term, it probably won't ... (exception would be an account that is calculated in your utilization).
What it does, though, is stop the account from pinging your credit report going forward. So, your score will improve over time, just not immediately.
To see your score skyrocket quickly, you would need to get the items completely removed from your report. There are several methods people use to achieve this. The ones we talk about the most on this board are pay for delete, and goodwill letters. If you search those terms, you will find lots of info about them. Both are very realistic possibilities in many cases, though it depends on the individual creditor.
Good luck! I'm looking forward to seeing your 2020 success story.

Except COd credit cards ARE included in utilization and hence paying them off DOES yield score increases, albeit small ones if a file is full of baddies. If it's relatively clean, then some pretty decent score increases can be had, particularly if the debt amounts are huge.
@Anonymous if you don't mind me asking, how were you able to get the settlement with WFDS? I have a charged-off account that I need to deal with through them and I am unable to pay the full balance but would like to try and settle it for less with a reported "0" balance, if possible. I don't know if I should just call or reach out with a letter. Did they mail you something or did you just reach out and how if so? If you could help me with this issue that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
Just shoot them a call
