Deletion that occurs based on a dispute is a determination that the accuracy was not verified at that time.
That determination is never absolute, and reinsertion can still occur provided the reinsertion requirments set forth under FCRA 611(a)(5)(B) are complied with.
More specifically, any party wishing to reinsert information that was previously deleted based on a prior dispute can have the information reinserted if they provide a Certification of Accuracy along with their proposed reinsertion. If the CRA receives the Certification, they are permitted to immediately reinsert the previously deleted information, and must send written notice to the consumer within 5 business days after they have reinserted, providing specific notice of the reinsertion under FCRA 611(a)(5)(B).
While such resinsertion provides a new "date opened" for the collection, that date does not affect scoring of ultimate exclusion date, which continues to be based only on the reported DOFD.
