Wamu Derog problems

So, I have been cleaning up my credit very well and it seems the only thing really holding my score back is 120+ day late with Wamu back in dec 2007.  I tried twice for GW letters but they refused them.  How long is this going to be pulling my score back?  Since then I paid the CC off completely.

Re: Wamu Derog problems

I have a 120 day late (3+ years) old on my CR and more score are what you see in my sig).  I have an open mortgage and auto loan and I PIF my credit cards so my util is either 0% or 1% (sice FICO) rounds up.  MY AAoA is 10 + years.

Your scores will be dominated by the 120 day late until it falls off but even with the 120 day late I was able to get a prime CC and an autoloan from my CU at their best rate.

You probably wont get to 800  until it falls off but you probably will be able to get the credit you need though.

Re: Wamu Derog problems

This might be a dumb suggestion, but it worked for us with Cap One (who everyone says is the most unforgiving). We had a CO back in '05 with Cap One (which we IMMEDIATELY paid in full). Then about 6 months ago, DH opened a brand new credit line with them.

Well, in trying to fix our credit as much as possible, we wrote them a nice GW letter, referencing the fact that we're with them again, love them to pieces, and have been a very good boy (this was DH's account). And Oh! By the way, could they please, in light of all this, please remove the lates associated with the account? And they did. In fact, on one CR (TU, I think) it no longer even shows as a CO (the other two do, though -- guess we weren't sweet enough in our GW).

My point, convoluted as it may be, is to open a new account with them and THEN try GWing. They have FAR more incentive to grant your GW if you're a customer and still putting $$ in their pockets. Especially if you're a customer in good standing NOW.
