I am confused. I disputed TU online on 2/20 for two accounts they had marked open that should have been showing closed and PIF.
I then CMRRRed three disputes on 2/27 for paid medical accounts for the HIPAA process.
Today I get a letter from TU saying:
We are in receipt of the additional information regarding your current dispute(s). Due to this additional information, the time frame for completing the investigation has been extended. Your initial corespondence was received on 2/20/2009 and your additional information was received on 2/27/2009, which allows TU fifteen additional days. Therefore, your investigation will be completed on or before 4/4/2009.
Excuse me???
Is this normal, or should I have played smarter and waited to send in my "additional" (*ahem* unrelated) information? This just seems shady to me, like they are using the fact that I disputed more than one item to get more time for each item.
Is this right? Has anyone else encountered this with TU? Thanks for your thoughts...
Not yet...should I be watching for mail from the CAs or the CRAs?
Thanks, fused! I'll keep an eye out.
So glad you're here!!!
