Since no one seems to have brought it up yet, you can get one or all three reports for free without a credit card at annualcreditreport.com once a year - you can decide if you want to do all three or just one at a time periodically through the year.

I thought it was about OP's public record not showing on the report from free-whatever-it-was (report?) dot com.

OP, one hazard of third-party monitoring services is that sometimes info on the underlying full report doesn't transmit over properly to the monitoring version. It's possible that the PR is still on your full version from Experian, but just not displaying on what you have.

The only way to tell for sure is to pull the full version from Experian, via however route you choose.

(btw, FICO scores are calculated off the underlying full reports, so even when the monitoring versions are goobered up, the score is correct.)

Re: freecreditreport.com and EX score? Question please help

Thanks for the responses!!

Hauling, you're saying that even though the information isn't exactly matching from time to time between third party sites and the actual CBs, the score is the same?

I have a 640 EX score on freecreditreport.com, that means my EX score is in fact a 640?

THANKS!!!!!!

No, sorry, I should have been more clear.

What I meant is that your FICO scores are calculated from the underlying full reports maintained at each bureau, not off of the monitoring versions. So if there are errors on the monitoring versions, they won't affect your FICO scores as long as the underlying full reports are correct.

But the FAKO scores like those from freecreditreport/score/etc etc etc etc/dot-com are unrelated to FICO scores. They are calculated using completely different formulas (which we don't know much about), and they're scored on different score ranges than the FICO scores. When they match, it's sheer coincidence.

--and I have no idea if the FAKO scores are calculated from the shortened third-party reports that they come with or from the underlying full reports. All we know about FAKO scores, really, is that they're a nice source of income for those who sell them.

Re: freecreditreport.com and EX score? Question please help

I would just use Quizzle.com for a free Experian Credit Report and Free they give you both every 6 months for free no credit card needed and even CreditKarma.com once per month for free but these may be FAKO scores but they are not very detailed there but they tell you utilization rate, AAOA and some of the basics myfico gives you but I still prefer myfico think they have a clearer picture and better tools in hand to to get you on the right track to improving you score for what the companies pulling your credit see and rate on.

Be careful with some of the calculations. On CK, for example, AAoA is calculated by using open OC accounts only. FICO calculates AAoA on all open and closed OC accounts. They count utilization on my CK account too. They left out my Penfed LOC. FICO calculates in my LOC.

Re: freecreditreport.com and EX score? Question please help

IF you want to dig deep into the "free" credit report practices being offered every day, the FTC recently issued final regulatons on such practices at:

Federal Register/Vol. 75, No. 41/Wednesday,  March 3, 2010.

Titled "Free Annual File Disclosures; Final Rules"

The final rules have now been published at 16 CFR Part 610.  They have the effect of law.

As for credit reports, no consumer credit report you can get from ANYONE, ANYWHERE, completely reports what is in your credit file.

They are all summaries. Some are notoriously less comprehensive than others.

The FTC does not regulate scores sold by these parties.  Federal law separateyt handles this.  If the score you get does not include the identification as a registered trademark or copyright of Fair Isaac Corp, it is not a FICO score.  Just as "Cola" is generic, so is the term "credit score."  Coke is a registered type of cola, just as FICO is a registered type of a credit score.

The most comprehensive credit report that I know of that is availbable to consumers is the official government sanctioned, free annual credit report you can get, once a year, from annualcreditreport.com.
